Tale of the Tape:
Katie McGrath:

Former BBU bantamweight champion.

VS
Maura Higgins:
Age: 31

W/L: 5-0 (5KOs)

We are admittedly a week too late to start an Irish all poll, but after Saint Patrick's Day we have paired a former BBU champion and a possible future champion together in our latest poll, we want to know if Katie McGrath and Maura Higgins shared a ring together, who would come out on top in the end?
Let's get started with our former BBU bantamweight champion Katie McGrath, the actress famous for being in shows like "Merlin" and as Lana Luthor in "Supergirl" has certainly been a force in the ring over the past five years, right in the argument as the best Irish fighter right now, though of course Maura and a host of Irish women would disagree.
She has shared the ring with the likes of former BBU bantamweight champion Doda, who she beat twice, same with Rose Byrne, also Helen Flanagan and Lea Seydoux, with only top fighters like Daisy Ridley and Melissa Benoit able to defeat her since making her debut in 2016.
In the ring she is very much an on the front foot style fighter, while she can box quite beautifully when needed, she prefers to get inside an opponents reach, work the body and launch uppercuts to end a night early or make her opponent suffer, toughness is certainly not an issue for her.
What has been an issue is her temper, which she has lost at times and it has cost her, she also isn't the quickest fighter in the bantamweight division, which allows her opponent to pick her off if they can keep her off them.
Now to the opposite corner and our former Love Island star Maura Higgins, she is undefeated in her first five fights since debuting back in 2020 when she beat Sacha Parkinson, since Love Island she has done a charity Spartan event and usually can be found on Instagram looking stunning.
Apart from Sacha on her debut, she has won a bare knuckle brawl on St. Patrick's Day against Nadia Forde last year, she has also defeat Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Rhian Sudgen as her list of victories certainly isn't a list of jobbers.
While she can get stuck in on the inside, Maura is a silky smooth boxer, having an impressive viper like jab along with good footwork, she also has a good engine as she can keep a good tempo up through round after round once she is up to speed.
So far while nobody has beaten her, a few tells have shown themselves, one is she can be a slow starter, a few opponents have come out strong in the opening rounds to push her, second issue is sometimes she gets lax with her guard, she definitely has an ego and it shows itself when her gloves drop.
That's the two fighters, now it's up to you to choose who you think would win if they fought in the ring, to do so please click the link below and vote for your choice:

Thank you so much for taking the time to read the post and to vote, it is all in good fun and the final result will be announced next Wednesday morning, so keep your eyes out for that.
