ACB Repco SuperSprint Boxing from Albert Park, Melbourne
Tahan Lew-Fatt vs Renee Herbert
(ACB Independent vs BronzedOz Boxing)
(5-1, 4 KO vs 0-1, BBU: 6-2, 6 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: One might argue a lot has changed since this fight was booked two weeks ago - just not where you'd expect to see those changes. Tahan Lew-Fatt hoped to use a win over Renee Herbert as a platform to challenge ACB bantamweight champion Olympia Valance into a rematch fight with the straps on the line. After all Olympia beat Renee back in February herself. The only problem to emerge in the last two weeks? Olympia is no longer the champion as she fell to Renee's two sister Elisha on the March BBU PPV! It was a true upset of the year candidate which threw a wrench into a long-standing narrative that Renee is the more talented of the twins! She does have more IG followers so there is that...
To make matters worse for Renee's bruised ego this fight takes place in Albert Park, Melbourne where the V8 Supercars support the returning F1 Australian Grand Prix this weekend. The Penrite Oils banners for Kelly Grove Racing wave firmly in Tahan's corner and Renee even refuses to trash-talk the paddock favorite. Green & Gold's Sarah Cumming claims Renee's stock as the future face of ACB federation took a nasty hit in the last several weeks and if she loses to Lew-Fatt we might witness a genuine meltdown on social media!
Tahan Lew-Fatt wears a red bikini set & black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. Renee Herbert wears a purple bandeau bikini & silver gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for six rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Tahan moves in to deliver the early hits and she outworks the fellow brunette in a solid jabbing dispute before landing a wild overhand on the nose. Ugh! Renee loses her balance and has to fend off a hectic rush up the middle as Tahan pounces on the opportunity and keeps working on the high-octane delivery. She barges Herbert onto the ropes and whacks her in the exposed tummy before another jabbing rush forces the younger brunette to clinch herself into safety. Tahan shakes off the stalemate and bangs away with a furious head-hunting rally that keeps Renee bellowed out on top of the ropes for remainder of the round while the Penrite Oils mechanics enjoy the show!
Round 2:
Another quick start from Tahan who really leans in her shots as she pancakes more of the model's midsection and tries to barge her onto the ropes again. However Renee finds her elite combination and halts the V8 WAG's assault when she punks her on the mouth herself before driving more leather on the chest as well. Tahan's jug muggin' skills remain a mystery and she allows the younger brunette to work her over in the phone booth before a booming right cross sends the older woman spinning onto the ropes. Renee duly pounces on the moment and hauls in more vicious punches leaving Lew-Fatt covered behind a leaky earmuff in the closing stages instead.
Round 3:
Tahan tries to vent her frustration and nicks in a couple of low strikes into the model's breadbasket before a clash of heads drops Herbert back into coverage. Ugh! Lew-Fatt got a little fortunate down there and she spends the opening minute chasing the Gold Coast woman around the area while Renee tries to settle down amid a loud support for her opponent. Sarah Cumming is stunned how Renee struggles to impose her will on the otherwise older and allegedly inferior rival but Tahan rides the hot jabbing hand to clobber the fellow brunette onto the ropes where she adds more vicious harpoons on the exposed ribcage. Herbert has to clinch her to run out the clock.
Round 4:
The back & forth action continues as both girls rip into each other with another body busting series and it's becoming clear most of the attacks are aimed downstairs tonight. Renee secures the early advantage when she drops a rare uppercut check on the mounds and works the better execution from there as she slumps Lew-Fatt on her heels and barges her onto the ropes thereafter. Tahan has to stall the action once she realizes she's getting overpowered here and she's unable to match Herbert's intensity in the final minute either which allows the younger brunette to blast her in the guts with almost no reply.
Round 5:
It's anyone's guess if Tahan would actually get a shot at the ACB bantamweight title if she beats the champion's twin sister tonight but the Penrite Oils support carries the Darwin model into a commanding position early in the fifth when she beats Renee for a wild overhand and settles for a rare head-hunting blast that stuffs the younger brunette on her heels. The slugging spell lasts long enough Renee bends to the side with a whimper and has to adjust her stance only for Lew-Fatt to blast her with a hard right hand on the eye. Ugh! Renee stumbles onto the ropes and tries to deke away from danger... she barely escapes Tahan's furious rush and avoids genuine damage but cuts a defensive figure and gives away important style points as the V8 WAG chases her around the ring and still lands meaningful single strikes to probably take the round on points. Ugh! Renee shakes her head in frustration and coach Nicky Whelan tells her she'd have to win the final round to take a decision!
Round 6:
Renee goes for the kill and hammers a slugging drive upstairs but Tahan weathers the early storm and picks the fellow brunette off with an overhand reply before bailing back into mid-range. She tries to lure Herbert into a counter-punching trap and holds her own during a hectic back & forth display in the opening minute. Renee manages to close her down along the ropes but the phone booth action only stalls the action as those single shots in the midriff don't make a difference anymore and allow Tahan to clinch the Gold Coast model into a stalemate before another head-butt makes Herbert lose her patience. She whacks Lew-Fatt in the groin and finally scores an uppercut rally on the chest however the ref steps in to call for a time-out! Ugh! He doesn't take a point away but Renee loses her momentum after the break and spends the last stretch of the round in a fruitless pursuit as Tahan celebrates with the Penrite Oils mechanics when the final bell ends the action. Comes back 58-56 Lew-Fatt, 58-56 Herbert and 58-56 for your winner through a SPLIT decision Tahan Lew-Fatt!!!
AFTER: Due to the compact schedule of the Australian Grand Prix weekend there isn't much time for the boxing afterparty and Renee simply can't wait to storm out of the Albert Park paddock here. She blames Nicky Whelan for painting the wrong tactical picture of her today's opponent and tells Sarah Cumming that "Tahan would stand no chance against her sister Elisha if that fight happens anytime soon!"
Meanwhile Tahan is too busy celebrating with the Kelly Grove mechanics to offer a response and since her fiancee finished on the podium in the first Super Sprint race of this round it shapes up to be a great weekend for the Reynolds & Lew-Fatt household!
Official Result: Tahan Lew-Fatt def. Renee Herbert - Split Decision.
