Old sparring buddies meet in an official bout so it's anyone's guess if Veronika is the sacrificial lamb or not?
“I know Veronika’s been meaning to get into the ring,” Petra says earlier at the press conference. “What better way than against someone she’s comfortable with?”
Veronika agrees, nodding at the other blonde. “We’ve known each other for years, gotten into a couple of scraps ourselves. This is going to be a competitive fight, for sure.”
Ladies at opposite ends of the ring, tall and toned, with Petra in a white floral bikini and red gloves. Veronika in the other, amber bikini and blonde hair tied into a ponytail. Referee gives the signal and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Welterweight action!
ROUNDS 1&2:
Back & forth action in the first two rounds, as Petra proves unwilling to press ahead to hurt her sparring partner, staying back and jabbing at the other blonde’s face. This, however, plays into Veronika's hands, giving Veronika space to fire away at Petra’s head with impunity. Petra regroups in the second, blocking a lot more and then shocking her former partner with stiff hooks to the head, sending her reeling. Ultimately, the rounds are left at a draw.
ROUND 3:
Veronika gets a little more aggressive, rushing in and knocking Petra about with sharp hooks to either side of her head. Nemcova looks stunned, repeatedly taking hits and getting rocked to her ears. Petra gets frustrated by the end of the round, parrying another heavy shot and then connecting with a hook of her own off the chin, sending Veronika grunting and covering up. Round ends and girls are getting serious about this fight, not holding back their punches any longer.
ROUND 4:
Petra comes back with force, punishing Veronika to the body whenever the Russian fires a flurry up high to her face. Nemcova flashing leather to the blonde’s tummy, then chopping fists up into her chest and arms, dominating the first minute outright. Veronika regroups, protecting her head and body, then landing shots back to Petra’s head. Round ends more evenly than anticipated again, though Petra refuses to back down and slams her own combos back, as both blondes punish each other.
ROUND 5:
Early overhand to the forehead has Petra hurt, reeling back as the punch lands between the eyes. Immediately, Veronika rushes inwards to try and brawl and finish her partner off, but those knocks to the head are meeting the arms. Petra holding on, protecting her head with both arms, but clearly in trouble. Veronika treats her to several pumps to the belly, vengeful chops to her chest to send her into the ropes multiple times, but can’t quite finish her off. Late in the round, however, Nemcova manages to clinch up and force Vařeková into the ropes, rocking her across the chin to daze her back. Suddenly, Petra’s back in control, establishing slugging superiority with several more shots landed off her face. Vařeková sags and groans in her arms, but thankfully gets saved by the bell just in time.
ROUND 6:
Veronika makes a surprising return in the first minute, landing a quick flurry to Petra’s face to shock and surprise the Siren. But Nemcova doesn’t back down, shrugging off the attack and shoving her own fists back into the Russian’s nose and lips. That seems to have done it, making Vařekovástagger backwards with her arms flailing. Petra pushes in, slamming more shots into the face and body, pushing her back into the ropes. Veronika makes a final lunge at her head but Petra blocks it and connects with a right hook across the jawline, and DOWN SHE GOES!! Veronika gets floored off to the side, her jaw knocked loose and eyelids fluttering! Referee starts the count but the older blonde doesn’t manage to get off all fours! It’s all over!
Official Decision: Petra Nemcova defeats Veronika Vařeková via KO6!
AFTER:
Petra immediately helps her former partner off the ground, embracing her tightly and whispering encouragement for her effort. Veronika nodding, still looking shocked, has to be helped by the ring officials back to her corner, where she’s checked over by the medics.
Stepping into the ring at the age of 45 was a courageous act by itself, and the crowd gives her a standing ovation as she leaves the ring. Meanwhile, Petra shows her promise, winning her first match of the year but doing so in convincing fashion.
“I’m thankful for any opportunity to get into the ring,” Petra says, smiling wide. “I look forward to my next fight.”
