Rachel Zegler vs Lily-Rose Depp

BEFORE: American actress Rachel Zegler has been extremely vocal in her pursuit of celebrity boxing career and she's finally arrived in the ring after Lily-Rose Depp accepted her open challenge. The Paris-born model-turned-actress hasn't exactly inspired elite predictions scoring only one victory in eight bouts so far but most fans & pundits doesn't have a clue what Zegler brings to the table except a very loud mouth! Depp is convinced the New Jersey native will be dispatched in no time and vows to "break her face" which does sound a bit optimistic given the blonde's reputation of creampuff puncher!
Rachel Zegler wears a red crop top, matching hip-huggers & black gloves. Long black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Lily-Rose Depp wears a white bikini set & blue gloves. Long dark blonde hair tied in a curled ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
Rachel was waiting for this debut for months and she jumps into a high-octane attack that leaves the more experienced blonde stranded in the center of the ring. The brunette's charge secures precision as well so she knocks Lily's head back upon impact and finds out pretty quickly her opponent's guard is as leaky as advertised. However Lily tries not to back off literally seconds into clashing gloves with a genuine rookie and swings over the top looking to score an easy punch herself. Rachel ducks underneath those efforts and packs a mean series on each temple to wobble the model onto her heels which allows her to extend her advantage and she pummels an otherwise lacklustre Depp back to the ropes come the final minute. Lily slams a desperate shot on the mouth right at the bell but she knows Zegler took the opener with room to spare.
Round 2:
More of the same in the second as Rachel's aggressive approach is more than enough to drop Lily into serious trouble once she connects with her shots. She smacks the older woman on the temples and slices through the suspect guard until the blonde bails out of close range and tries to make something happen from afar. It doesn't work at all as she bounces off the brunette's forearms and gets blasted around the area as Zegler maintains the superior precision and she doesn't even have to do that much to leave Depp dancing around on her toes in avoidance. Lily can move around alright but she's not getting any love from the judges according to Kate Abdo in the booth. Even Rachel feels confident enough she taunts the reeling model to show some at the bell.
Round 3:
Lily's pride forces her into a rare slugging response but she's given the rookie enough respect already. The back & forth jabbing tangle remains unresolved until Rachel whacks the blonde up the chimney to resume the familiar aggressive pounce much to the crowd's delight. Lily gets vocal as she tries to push through a sudden flurry of the American's strikes but she only eats more of them upstairs and gets backed into the neutral corner where Zegler slings a left hook on the eye that leaves a nasty shiner upon impact. Ugh! Depp just can't punch herself out of this hole for remainder of the round and slumps into quiet spasms as the rookie powers ahead to land more clean hits onto her face. Woof. Bell saves Lily-Rose from immediate disaster but there's a long way to go yet...
Round 4:
Lily finally gets some meaningful punches on target as she feels the swelling around the right could only get worse here. Rachel lets the older girl work her thing for a while but then she taunts her again to indicate it's a futile effort for the best part yet Depp flicks a nifty combo on the chin and wobbles the snarky brunette off her comfort zone. Another left/right combo sends Zegler reeling onto the ropes where she has to fend off a rare slugging heat from the charging model. Lily gets vocal as she drives her mitts into Rachel's face and she knocks her with a good series here forcing the hitherto dominant American to cave behind a high earmuff. Ugh! Diamond Elite manager Tamara Ecclestone shakes her head over in the VIP seats but keeps her composure for now as the tape doesn't lie and Lily-Rose just doesn't have a game-changing power at her disposal even for flyweight standards.
Round 5:
Rachel resumes the head-hunting pounce and catches the blonde with a heavy left/right combo before looping a hard shot on the temple. Lily refuses to back off but fails to break through the brunette's guard and has to soak up another vicious series that snaps her head back and forces her to get out of the American's range. She almost trips over her own feet in this hectic retreat and gets pounded back to the ropes where Zegler mounts another slugging drive to pin the ailing rival behind a tight earmuff. However the relentless attack breaks Depp's resilience shortly after the one-minute mark and Rachel cashes in with another left/right combo that slumps Lily-Rose into loud spasms. Ugh! Blonde's mitts drop just low enough for the rookie to BLAST a drilling right hook on the mouth that SENDS THE MODEL CRASHING DOWN on her backside amid a loud cheer from the Cardiff audience. Uh-oh!!! Rachel struts back to her corner and seeks out Tamara Ecclestone in the front seats while the otherwise slow count actually gives Lily a second chance to salvage her pride. She gets up at eight but looks awfully vulnerable here and Rachel jumps into immediate wrecking ball attack that snaps the blonde's head back again and earns her one more lump before she basically checks out of this fight while still (somehow) upright. Rachel pounds away in fury as Lily bellows out on top of the ropes and the ref realizes this is going nowhere for the embattled model. He pulls the brunette away and the Diamond Elite crew can start the celebrations! TKO5 Rachel Zegler!!!
AFTER: A very impressive victory for the 'West Side Story' starlet who salutes the state of New Jersey and demands MORE action sooner rather than later. You can't keep a good fighter quiet for too long but even Kate Abdo indicates Rachel needs a tougher opponent to justify her loud mouth! Lily-Rose offers plenty of marketing value but her boxing skills are subpar to say the very least. Rachel did what she had to do and most fans expect Tamara Ecclestone to claim maximum benefit from this performance regardless what the newcomer's true upside actually is. Stay tuned for more!
