BEFORE: Former beauty pageant Nicola Mimnagh is ready to make a serious championship push this season but it all comes down to exeuction and some fans believe Mathilde Gohler is a very bold challenge to start the 2023 campaign. Nicola might have overcome Alexina Graham few weeks ago but the Danish model is viewed as an upgrade over the English redhead not only because she fought for the welterweight title on Boxing Day recently. Perhaps Nicola thinks she can't quite afford beating on the regular journeywomen but the high-risk, high-reward approach could derail her ambitions before media even catch on the storyline in first place.

Round 1:
Mathilde tries to stack the early punches into the fellow brunette's face but bounces off a very stubborn Scottish guard and has to double on her execution however Nicola loops a promising response over the top and triggers a hectic exchange in the center of the ring that meets a loud reaction from the Cardiff offense. Both models give each other a solid head-hunting test before Gohler lands the supreme punch of the lot and makes Mimnagh squeal in sudden discomfort. Another hook lands on her mouth and forces her to deke to the side while the Danish woman misses out with her pursuit but still makes the fellow brunette look overly defensive in the final minute and carries the round on points with relative ease.

Round 2:
More hectic action in the center of the ring but neither woman is able to land the big punch so the crowd has to wait for the true fireworks until Nicola gets behind some body shots to secure that superior position if only for a brief moment. Mathilde clips her boobs during a quick exchange and tries to bully her back to the ropes but ends up in a clinching stalemate before Nicola turns her aside and loops another left/right combo up the middle. Gohler refuses to back off but bounces off Mimnagh's forearms again and loses her grip which allows the older woman to scythe her between the mitts and knock her head backwards several times in the closing stretch.

Rounds 3 & 4:
More determined action from Mimnagh who mauls the Dane's cleavage for the best part of round three and muscles her into the corner late to clobber the suddenly subdued opponent. Mathilde smacks a couple of single punches into the pageant's face but falls into an earmuff hole and eats more vicious body shots to lose all the momentum and then some. Nicola rides the hot hand in the fourth and pummels the younger model around before a left hook on the jaw drops Gohler on shaky ground. She fends off a sudden jabbing rush thanks to a mobility burst alas Nicola cranks up the pace down the stretch and scores some heavy leather into the Dane's face regardless. A wild left hook allows Gohler to find a meaningful response but she's a long way off securing a one-punch KO comeback and cuts a visibly frustrated figure at the bell while Nicola taunts the Cardiff audience into a louder support of the domestic talent from up north!

Rounds 5 & 6:
Mathilde runs up the jabbing value early in the fifth and keeps Nicola in mid-range for majority of the round which enables her to stick more leather up the middle as she mounts a recovery to silence the UK fans in the process. Nicola laughs off a couple of big shots but then still eats a left hook on the chin and has to rally with a body attack to avoid a whitewash yet Gohler still wobbles her behind a tight earmuff with an uppercut stinger. More of the same in the sixth where Nicola keeps bouncing off the fellow brunette's forearms and gets outworked over the top to the point Mathilde cuts her up below the left eye and picks up more heat to clobber her butt-in-ropes come the final minute. Nicola tries to swing from behind the guard but only grazes the Danish flesh and Mathilde settles into her groove to burst trough the Scottish guard and leave Mimnagh aching out in pain when she gets rocked by a right hook on the nose right at the bell.

Round 7:
Mathilde thinks she's got Nicola ready to check out of this contender test but she eats a wild hook on the nose during the initial exchange and suddenly wobbles forward to meet a heavy uppercut blast that brings the former Miss Scotland right into contention. The Danish tourist refuses to back off and seeks that one missile that knocks Nicola out of the park but it's the older girl who finds it instead! Nicola RIPS a right cross on the nose again before a left hook nails the ailing Gohler on the ear and sends her into immediate descent. Nicola manages to land one extra hook on the mouth before Mathilde crashes down on her knees amid a loud roar from the Cardiff audience. Uh-oh!!! The Danish model tries to get up almost too quick here and has to take another knee when the count reaches seven. Ugh! She rises up but then wobbles into the referee's arms and that shot on the ear must have really did her it! The fight is waved off and poor Mathilde seems too confused to even protest the stoppage! TKO7 Nicola Mimnagh!!!

AFTER: Another very important victory for the Scottish model which suggests she can take some high-profile scalps after all. It's never easy to meet the expectations but perhaps that's the ultimate trick for Nicola. She flies under the radar for a long time and doesn't make much noise on social media to warrant any significant hype. Did Mathilde underestimate tonight's challenge? Some excuses wear out faster than others and let's see where Nicole goes from here as the verdict on her true upside is still out.
