BEFORE: Former ACB flyweight champion Penny Higgs succumbed to the latest elite hopeful Samara Weaving in early August but she's got more than enough to beat the stuffing out of Lara Bingle according to Green & Gold's Sarah Cumming. The pro dancer seems like a natural rival for Katya Jones going forward and the Melbourne native confirms she'd be targeting the 'Strictly Come Dancing' stalwart had she defeated Weaving few weeks back. Expect that plan to go ahead if Bingle goes down tonight though!
Meanwhile the New South Wales model has shown plenty of promise when she took both Havana Brown and Tiffany Mulheron the distance to kick off her boxing career but the fact remains that six years later she's still chasing that elusive maiden victory! Even Sarah Cumming is puzzled by this lack of success and points to bad coaching by BronzedOz's head trainer Nicky Whelan who never thrived in the boxing ring herself and has apparently dragged Lara's career into the gutter as well. This being said, losing to veteran Naomi Watts can wreck anyone's potential and that's what happened to Bingle back in 2014. Can she recover from this almighty cooler against the former ACB champion tonight?

Round 1:
Wild start from Higgs who simply lashes out at the blonde from both flanks and scores easy punches up the middle while Bingle tries to adjust her footing while getting whacked by the charging opponent. Ugh! That's like the worst start possible for the embattled blonde who fails to match the brunette's intensity and yields real estate with every Higgs punch crashing into her otherwise pretty face! She gets sucked into the ropes in no time and Penny just lays it into her to earn loud ovations from the Brisbane audience. She glues Bingle butt-in-ropes and can feel a little unlucky she's unable to knock her down proper but the model has been truly rattled here in the opener and gives coach Whelan that "WTH" look after the bell cuts her troubles short.
Round 2:
More high-octane offense picks Bingle off in close range and her half-hearted response only bounces off the dancer's high guard; Penny shows supreme mobility to wobble her rival onto her heels and follows the familiar script from the opener as she pounds the aching girl back to the ropes where she settles down with body-busting attacks. She doesn't even have to keep her foot on the throttle but Lara just can't brawl herself back into any sort of contention and earns a fat lip when Higgs cashes in with repeated hooks in the final minute. Ugh! Bingle's guard is simply terrible and Sarah Cumming calls for a major coaching change at the BronzedOz because Nicky Whelan truly doesn't know what she's doing here!
Round 3:
Lara's avoided going down thus far but not anymore... she tries to connect with a left/right combo upstairs but Higgs easily ducks underneath that sluggish attempt and NAILS the blonde on the solar plexus which folds her into immediate spasms... Uh-oh!!! Bingle gets trapped on her heels and has no chance to buckle up for a wild uppercut on the jaw THAT SENDS HER CRASHING DOWN on her backside moments later. Penny bunny hops around the fallen model for a while before getting called back to her corner by coach Tania Zaetta. Meanwhile it's a slow recovery for the blonde who looks physically absent once getting upright at eight according to Sarah Cumming. There's no mercy from the brunette here though and Penny blitzes through the leaky guard to snap Lara's head back & forth as she drives her onto the ropes and simply intends to knock her head off much to the crowd's delight! Brutal punches send Bingle into a classic punchbag mode and she gets rendered numb come the two-minute mark and succumbs to one hook on the jaw too many! DOWN SHE GOES with eyes closed and that's a wrap, folks! KO3 Penny Higgs!!!
AFTER: Penny looked unstoppable from the opening bell and she's more than ready to take on Katya Jones next according to everyone gathered inside the Suncorp Stadium! That should be a much more competitive outing even though the Melbourne brunette would have to make the long journey to Europe to clash with her desired target: "I don't really care! Katya's on my hit list for a while and man, I'm sooo much better than her! I had this losing streak you know but it's over now! Lara was... well... a dangerous opponent... don't laugh there, Tania! She's also much better than her record shows but then there is Nicky who couldn't hit a broad side of a barn if she had a chance... I mean, their coaching is not my problem! Look at that goofy tramp! Whatever... so, are we booking those plane tickets to London already?" (laughs).
Final result: Penny Higgs def. Lara Bingle KO3.
