Results: BBU; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: It's time for a blonde supremacy fight next as glamour model Lisa Gleave makes her bantamweight debut versus the experienced Natalie Bassingthwaighte. Gleave was a flyweight regular while on BronzedOz duty but carries 115 lbs these days so had to move up in order to continue her boxing career that stalled dramatically over the past three years. Picking NatBass for your return isn't exactly the smartest idea according to Green & Gold's Sarah Cumming even if you consider that Gleave owns supreme numbers both height & reach-wise. Bassingthwaighte has struggled for results herself but bounced back into winning ways on the Crossover PPV when she stopped Jaime Murray in five so she carries the all important momentum tonight while Gleave remains a complete mystery on her divisional debut.
Lisa Gleave wears a mauve bikini set and silver gloves. Long blonde hair loose & straight. Natalie Bassingthwaighte wears a black sports bra, matching hotpants and golden gloves. Shoulder lenght blonde hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Lisa comes from Gold Coast so she enjoys the Brisbane crowd support at the expense of the New South Wales-based actress and that helps to shake off that three year rust as the punches fly thick & fast from the taller blonde early on! Lisa connects with several crisp punches up the middle to stack up a visibly sluggish actress on her heels. Perhaps NatBass was expecting a sleepwalking start from her foe but that's not the case at all and she gets thumped back to the ropes where she fires back from behind the guard alas Gleave refuses to back off and stuns the older blonde with a brutal cross hook on the jaw right at the bell.
Round 2:
It's not panic station over in the Downunder corner yet but Gleave simply bulldozes Bassingthwaighte with more painfully accurate shots early in the second and drops her into mid-range defense. The older blonde tries to respond from the back foot but bounces off the high guard too often to make a difference while Lisa keeps plugging away upstairs to send Natalie into repeated defensive circles come the second minute. NatBass shows supreme mobility for majority of the round however Sarah Cumming believes that won't win her any favors with the judges and Lisa becomes vocal as she taunts the retreating blonde into more action. Natalie doesn't fall for the trick but she gives the glamour model a proper death stare at the bell and it's not exactly party atmosphere there with Downunder coach Nikki Visser during the interval.
Round 3:
Perhaps the Downunder entourage tries to lure Lisa into a close range trap where Natalie could blast her doors off on the counter-attack but it's the glamour model who dominates the close range again and rips through Bassingthwaighte's high guard to reel her onto the heels far too easily to count on a proper response from the embattled actress. The reach advantage begins to show when NatBass tries to weave herself into mid-distance safety as she gets clubbed on the nose and almost trips over her own feet in the process... Gleave leaps at her and almost head-butts along the way before sticking a brutal hook on the navel that bends the stunned blonde forward with a loud gasp. Lisa connects with immediate follow up hook on the temple TO SEND NATBASS CRASHING ONTO HER KNEES in no time... Oh, boy... that happened way too fast for coach Visser not to lose her temper anymore... Natalie takes the full eight count before getting up and suddenly the clock is her best friend as Gleave THUMPS her with immediate hooking drive that adds to the swelling around the lips. Bassingthwaighte's head snaps back repeatedly as the indie blonde rattles her from both flanks to whip her over the ropes... The Brisbane audience smells a quick KO here next but the bell rescues the aching actress with Lisa still belting her on the tummy late... Ugh! Nikki Visser's angry screams vanish in thin air amid a loud noise from the crowd and Lisa waves back to her supporters as she has NatBass literally on the ropes now...
Round 4:
It's like a Pilar Rubio nightmare from years past for Natalie who gets stunned with a vicious cross early in the fourth and simply wobbles onto her heels where she becomes immobile enough for Lisa to work her over in the center of the ring. The glamour model ignores the desperate earmuff and wades into the body where she finds success much faster than ever Sarah Cumming anticipated before. NatBass gets crippled with a relentless harpoon drive from both flanks that pounds her into the ropes amid more painful shrieks. Even the clinching stalemate doesn't delay the ineviteable as Lisa KNOCKS HER FOE DOWN with a speedy rush to the midsection that leaves Bassingthwaighte in fetal position. The Gold Coast native quickly struts back to the neutral corner and the count is simply too fast for the fallen blonde to mount a successful recovery. She shows signs of life at six but it's too late now and she rolls onto her back with eyes closed to officially succumb to Lisa Gleave's KO4 victory!
AFTER: What a bantamweight debut for the glamour model here, folks! Lisa dances around the fallen Natalie for a while before stomping her foot on the loser's jugs to extend her demise a little longer much to the crowd's delight. Downunder coach Nikki Visser wants to swing one at the victorious free agent but can't get there fast enough and Lisa keeps bouncing on her toes around the ring to dwell on the rampant crowd ovation for a while yet!
Sarah Cumming reckons Lisa could become a regular ACB feature in this part of the country but the indie blonde also vows to enter the beach boxing rules back home on Gold Coast in the near future. The summer is just around the corner - it starts in December here - and tonight's performance can do no harm to Lisa's career reboot.
Meanwhile it's back to the drawing board reality for NatBass and her coach Visser. The Downunder team seemed to completely miss out on Lisa's desire to steal the headlines on her debut and that 5'7" indie frame proved way too big to overcome once Gleave was allowed to run this bout from the front. Nikki Visser is a much better coach than that but she'll have to take this one on the chin!
Final result: Lisa Gleave def. Natalie Bassingthwaighte KO4.
