Sydney Craven vs Frankie Bridge
(Marti's Maulers vs Double A Boxing)
(5-0, 5 KO vs 4-16, 4 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: The revived Marti's Maulers stable is ready to strike it big on the Wembley PPV stage as their unofficial flyweight leader Sydney Craven vows to pummel all the crap out of Frankie Bridge tonight. The former member of The Saturdays escapes the usual soap TV target the Maulers have thrived on in the recent weeks but Sydney's ready to elevate her contender's bid into another level which requires taking down a BBU veteran outright. Frankie has been dismissed as genuine punchbag for majority of her boxing career but she's improved her performance and intends to spoil Sydney's party to remove her from any serious title challenge discussion. Maulers' coach Kara Tointon tries to unsettle the petite singer and triggers a shoving contest during the pre-fight introductions while Craven refuses to touch gloves with her opponent and simply eyeballs the East Londoner to become immediate public enemy #1 of the Wembley audience!
Sydney Craven wears a red sports bra with black trim, matching hotpants & white gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Frankie Bridge wears a black sports bra with violet trim, violet panties & matching violet gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
Frankie enjoys the crowd support which fuels her into a hectic jabbing rush in the early stages of the fight. Sydney has seen off other veterans before but Frankie makes it a little personal as she suddenly switches downstairs to flick a shot or two around the groin area which Sydney fails to embrace. She leans forward to apply a clinch but gets whacked on the chin with a quick hook which allows the singer to pummel her with more accurate shots thereafter. Sydney's forced to back off into mid-distance and her swinging efforts from the back foot struggle to find the mark. Bridge gallops forward to connect with more crisp hooks and reel the fellow brunette into the ropes where she switches downstairs again to punish the exposed ribcage. That display gets the crowd going and even Maulers' coach Kara Tointon realizes her girl is up for a challenge here tonight.
Round 2:
It's debatable which girl dismissed her opponent more heading into this contest but Frankie gets the jabbing job done early in the second again which sends Craven into a worrying mid-range escape when she gets tagged with a couple of nasty hooks over the top. She tries to keep the singer honest but her efforts cut thin air and only fuel Frankie's taunting as she tries to lure Sydney into a blitzing comeback. That's not happening though as Craven bets on safety mode even though that allows the East Londoner to bully her around the ring for majority of the round. The intensity of the punches drops but Frankie will enjoy the luck of the screcards draw according to Denise van Outen in the booth since she fights on home turf tonight. That's also something Kara Tointon is aware of as she gives the EastEnders gal a loud pep-talk during the interval.
Round 3:
Sydney finally abandons the defensive approach and triggers a high-octane jabbing exchange, Frankie jumps on it like there's no tomorrow and manages to clip the fellow brunette's chin a couple of times but when she drives downstairs to punish the tummy, she eats an overhand shot on the mouth and wobbles back onto her heels with a loud groan. She tries to push off but is slow in doing so and Craven whacks her with a big hook on the nose followed by another chin-busting hook. Ugh! Frankie tails off on the spot and suddenly her guard is as leaky as it has been back in the punchbag years with Sydney blowing past it to snap her head back & forth to reel her into spasms on the ropes. Frankie's biggest problem has always been pure punching resistance and she gets trapped in the corner come the two-minute mark with Sydney driving wild to knock her down! The crowd doesn't like it but Frankie can do little about stopping the gung-ho opponent and ends the round with a nasty swelling around the lips as Sydney really dug deep to recover from the sluggish start here.
Round 4:
It's perhaps ill-advised but Frankie refuses to back off following that poor third round and rallies to Sydney's body in order to shake her confidence. However she leaves too much space upstairs for the EastEnders' rookie not to cash in with more lip-busting shots that wobble the singer on her heels instead. Frankie tries to slug hersef back into contention but misfires badly off the brunette's forearms and gets NAILED with a double hooking combo on the jaw that sinks her into more loud spasms. Sydney barks in anger and lands the perfect left/right combo on each temple to dissect the high guard so she has a free shot with a left hook on the nose THAT SENDS FRANKIE CRASHING ON HER SIDE!!! Huh! Kara Tointon is the loudest person in the stadium now as Frankie craws on all fours to the ropes which she uses to climb back upright at eight. She looks a little dazed here and there's no mercy from Craven shown when she gets another chance. She just piles relentless leather into the aching singer's face and whacks her all over the corner with her guard collapsing on the spot. The swelling around Bridge's lips gets downright scary as Sydney batters her bac & forth until the knees simply give way and SEND FRANKIE SLIDING DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE with eyes closed! The ref doesn't even bother with the count and it's a huge KO4 Sydney Craven!!!
AFTER: Denise van Outen calls it official as Sydney might well be the new talk of the league going into the new year! She demolished a tough veteran after a slow start and has every right to tease the Wembley audience with some loud screams aimed at nobody in particular. Maulers coach Kara Tointon remains very mysterious when revealing Craven's future opponents and the rumoured addition to the coaching staff could yet alter any current plans for the stable's most promising spitfire. Meanwhile poor Frankie's been rendered semi-conscious as she rests her head against the ropes so cannot object to Kara Tointon dragging her by the hair to the center of the ring where both she and Sydney pin their heels on her tummy to pose for the flashing cameras. This performance can only improve Sydney's status as the new shiny contender in the flyweight division!
Final result: Sydney Craven def. Frankie Bridge KO4.
