A year of major overhaul for the Mauler's outfit.
When estranged owner Marti returned to over see a dramatic transformation and strategy.
As many ageing fighters were released and the emphasis was placed on youth to re-ignite this stuttering brand.
Final chances where given to Natalie Gumede at lightweight and Zaraah Abrahams at flyweight, but neither stepped up to the mark.
Only Melissa Suffield and Shona McGarty remain of the original line-up,while the signing of Danielle Harold from Beevers Babes was seen as an astute stroke.
Which couldn't be stated of Louisa Lytton's arrival to the Essex fold, the former Girls Friday stalwart the perennial jobber of the BBU.
The stable took the dramatic decision to house an all Eastenders cast and crew.
So joining Melissa and Louisa in the flyweights where Sydney Craven Amy-Leigh-Hickman Megan Jossa Mimi Keene all new additions to the BBU.
The bantamweights where equally changed as Shona and Danielle where now accompanied by Madeline Duggan and Tilly Keeper both new additions to the BBU.
The lightweights flag was now flown solo by Jasmine Armfield again a BBU newcomer.
Tamzin Outhwaite was promoted to manage the stable after hanging up her gloves for the last time.
Equally the coaching regime was vastly enlarged as all this new talent would need careful nurturing.
So to that end Kara Tointon Jill Halfpenny and Samantha Womack where hired as flyweight, bantamweight and lightweight coaches respectively, the final change saw Letitia Dean as a full-time cutswoman for the emerging stable,Natalie Gumede's bloody demise against Georgia Salpa in March, when Zaraah Abrahams was a virtual spectator in the Mauler's corner while Natalie was battered to a pulp alerted the Mauler's returning owner to the urgency of such a vacancy.
Kara Tointon gives her thoughts on the flyweights:
Sydney Craven: 2018 BBU record 6-0 the signing light in the Mauler's roster,Sydney's taekwondo experience proving vital in her adjustment to the celebrity boxing fold, the highlight of her year being a 4 round stoppage of Frankie Bridge in the Boxing Day PPV.
To cap Sydney's first year in the BBU,she was awarded rookie of the year, big things expected in 2019 for the brunette.
Sydney will be the Mauler's great hope in 2019,no definite word on future plans as yet,but she will be aiming to scale the rankings.
Amy-Leigh-Hickman: 2018 BBU record 1-1 a chastening debut for young Amy as Samia Ghadie taught the rookie a boxing lesson in just 2 one-sided rounds,Amy winning an inter-stable contest by KO'ING Louisa Lytton in 6,to give her some hope of not being a complete cream puff.
No plans as yet for Amy's 2019 but she will be eager to kick some soap opera ass.
Lorna Fitzgerald and some Corrie bimbo's on her hit list.
Megan Jossa: 2018 BBU record 1-0 a routine first outing for Jacqueline Jossa's cousin with her 2 round demolition of Rebecca Ryan.
No plans yet for Megan's early 2019 schedule, her contact's in the BBU could lead to some openings.
Mimi Keene: 2018 BBU record 1-0 a routine first outing for Mimi also reducing Charley Webb to a sobbing pulp in 4 rounds.
Again nothing arranged for Mimi's early 2019,but she is eyeing up some other Emmerdale bounty.
Louisa Lytton: 2018 BBU record 0-4 another blank year for Louisa as her wait for a maiden victory continues,Jeanette Biedermann,Vanessa Morgan, her stablemate Amy,and lastly Lorna Fitzgerald extending the BBU'S sexiest jobber's wait for a victory.
With this in mind it seems strange that Louisa will commence the Mauler's stable war versus Fight Club UK'S Tina O'Brien in February.
Melissa Suffield :2018 BBU record 2-2 a mixed calendar for Melissa winning her re-match with Lorna Fitzgerald and besting Charley Webb, but tasting bruising losses to Corrie's Lucy Fallon and Emmerdale's Fiona Wade.
Melissa facing a testing new year showdown with fellow soap bad girl Stephanie Davis, and then pitched against Rebecca Ryan in the stablewar.
Jill Halfpenny reviews the bantamweights:
Madeline Duggan :2018 BBU record 1-0 a crushing 3 round rout of TOWIE'S Sam Faiers,Sam's sister next in the brunette's line of fire, and rumours were rife on BBU chat that Maddie would face a set-to with her 'Lauren Branning' successor Jacqueline Jossa.
Danielle Harold :2018 BBU record 2-1 the bottled blonde having an up and down 2018,avenging her 2014 loss to Alesha Dixon, and also besting Amy Nuttall, but her year ending on a downer by losing an inter-stable clash with Shona McGarty for priority status in the Mauler's bantam division.
A bout against Chelsea Halfpenny should ensure a winning start to 2019 for Danielle to get her fortunes back on track, before anchoring the Mauler's stable war in a real tough clash with unbeaten Lacey Turner.
Tilly Keeper :2018 BBU record 2-0 Tilly making a big impression by blasting out Jacqueline Jossa in 5 rounds in a grudge match and following up this success by easily KO'ING Charlie Brooks in 4 impressive rounds.
Corrie's Katie McGlynn Tilly's first action in 2019,before the blonde bombshell faces Brooke Vincent in the upcoming stable war.
Shona McGarty: 2018 BBU record 2-1 Shona's year ending on a high after a disappointing start, edged out by Lacey Turner in a 9 round thriller,Shona recording a 6-round triumph over Charlie Brooks, and doing her bantamweight hopes no harm by conquering her Mauler's rival Danielle Harold impressively in 7 rounds.
2019 is a make or break year for shona,Rachel Riley and Helen George her next two opponents as she attempts to scale the ladder of the crowded bantamweight field.
Samantha Womack with the lowdown on the only lightweight:
Jasmine Armfield: 2018 BBU record 2-0 a reasonable intro to the BBU for the baby of this youthful stable,Ali Bastian and Chantelle Houghton hardly stellar names but Jasmine clinical in her performance.
A head-to-head with Maddy Hill as part of the Mauler's-Fight Club UK stable war card in February could give the blonde a real chance to show herself to a large audience, clearly Tamzin Outhwaite and Sam Womack place a lot of faith pitching the youngster into such a bear pit.
The final thoughts of Tamzin Outhwaite before closing.
Tamzin: It's been a busy 12 months at the Mauler's with so many comings and goings, but now the stable has settled hopes are high that either Shona McGarty or Sydney Craven could give the Mauler's their first genuine title contender since Amelle Berrabeh.
As for the rest Danielle Harold is a dangerous mid-ranker in the bantams, and the stable will hope to topple FCUK and upset Katie Price even more, and put the Mauler's on the BBU map,but this is a long-term project and expectations should remain grounded as these girls have too learn the noble art in and out of the ring.
