Hello and welcome to a special BBU TV New Year's Eve Review conducted by the one and only Ms Denise van Outen!
Our friends over at Real View are enjoying a well-earned break and while the Boxing Day PPV dust hasn't settled yet we're gonna look forward to the new year which begins with a bang aka the Welterweight Contenders Six tournament scheduled to kick off on January 9th! Be sure to check in for that!
First though, Alessandra Ambrosio is NOT the best lightweight BBU has ever seen! Not until she beats Doutzen Kroes! #BlondesRule
Okay, so before we preview some of the looming action let's just confirm that Romee Strijd has joined the Lioness Club and will demote Alex Gerrard to understudy role going forward. Alex had her chances but BLEW them so Mr. V is rolling with the new model - literally.
This was made official after the Strijd vs Lais Ribeiro clash at the FCBA PPV a couple of days ago.
Moreover I'm told that Keisha Buchanan has been released from the Lioness stable and I guess most BBU fans noticed that Emma Bunton is now officially done as an active fighter and has joined the Marti's Maulers coaching staff. Good luck there, Emma!
Speaking of the Maulers, the stable has undergone a major overhaul earlier this season and while they conducted their own review a few days ago let's see if the cheerleading warrants a neutral opinion! Yes, I'm ALWAYS neutral unless you ask me about Christine Bleakley!
Okay, so Shona McGarty AND Sydney Craven are viewed as the top prospects for the Maulers. McGarty is one of the few who survived the overhaul and now campaigns at bantam which bodes well for her title aspirations. I'm told she eyes a clash vs Helen George aka 'The Dirty Blonde' which could well be called an official BW Title Eliminator with our Polish little tramp Dorota 'Doda' Rabczewska' sitting in the 120 lbs throne right now. I have some reliable sources within the Lioness group and they tell me Doda would agree to fight either George or McGarty next spring.
Sydney Craven is looking sharp and while EastEnders are not my cup of tea, I can see where she's going. If there's anyone who can punish Cheryl Cole anytime soon, Sydney has as good of a shot as anyone.
Looking further down the Maulers ladder I have faith in Danielle Harold who's not exactly a newbie and even Megan Jossa who probably knocked her cousin around long before she entered BBU. Beating Rebecca Ryan was a gimme but let's see if she can back it up next.
Madeline Duggan is the big sleeper in the pack, a boom or bust kinda girl BUT I hope Tilly Keeper eclipses her really soon and becomes the new star! Yeah, call me a Keeper's keeper haha... OK, so that was lousy a bit. If only Shona McGarty didn't have all that success before! Grr.. I'd always take blonde over a brunette! (winks).
I know very little about Mimi Keene but let's don't scratch her due to her hair color however Louisa Lytton is probably there to act as resident punchbag? Okay, so I understand she's kinda hot but it's hard to earn money being the hottest jobber in the BBU! Hopefully she doesn't leave our universe crying!
2019 market value for these Maulers? UP!!!
Now, let's take a look at our Top Six Welterweight Contenders!
Girls Friday's Joan Smalls is our champion and she's booked a fight vs Vogue Willams to keep herself busy during the duration of this tournament!
WHO IS YOU FAVORITE HERE?
Contender #1: JOURDAN DUNN (Beever's Babes)
I call her a poor man's Joan Smalls... not exactly Hughie Fury compared to Tyson Fury but close... good physics, good record but NOT a champion's mentality.
Contender #2: MELISSA SATTA (The Sirens)
Now then, here's a real spoiler. Mixing Italian and US blood is a good combo and The Sirens have a score to settle since Joan Smalls stopped Petra Nemcova's title bid not so long ago. So this will be personal. Expect some big things from this one!
Contender #3: ALICE GOODWIN (Chimera)
A boom or bust pick. Chimera can run the table on anyone in the BBU and Alice has FCBA experience already, If this was JMDD rules, she'd roll over this competition but in standard rules? Let's hope she doesn't blow her gasket too much since it's welter and you can go down following a single punch. Can see Alice winning 4 bouts here, folks!
Contender #4: CAROLINE AUSTIN (Free Agent)
Don't sleep on these indie models from Instagram. Caroline fights on home Aussie soil in round one and if she beats Goodwin, she can upset the lot! Well, maybe not the entire set but if she beats Goodwin she gets to 3-2! You've heard it here first!
Contender #5: BO KRSMANOVIC (Pretty Little Punchers, Inc.)
The Serbian stunner stumbled through some FCBA fights but she wants a piece of BBU silverware? If only she was blonde! Whatever! It's the first fight that sets the tone for this one. She wins it and she can go all the way as far as Satta goes. Lose to Kroes and you're looking at 2-3 or 3-2 record! But you can never count her out!
Contender #6: DOUTZEN KROES (Lookout! Atantic Boxing)
Former lightweight champion wants to become a dual champ? Huh! Be my guest! Hopefully she KO's Krsmanovic to kick off the show and if she does then it's ALL to play for. I bet she feels a little upset over many snubs over the past couple of years but she's as good as advertised at age 33! I pick Goodwin vs Kroes to be a proper bloodbath but that won't happen in week 1 yet!
Okay, my final predictions:
1. Melissa Satta 4-1
2a. Alice Goodwin 4-1 or 3-2
2b. Doutzen Kroes 4-1 or 3-2
4. Bo Krsmanovic 3-2 or 2-3
5.Caroline Austin 2-3 or 3-2
6. Jourdan Dunn 0-5
I don't think anyone can go unbeaten in this tournament and if Goodwin vs Kroes becomes the 'winner takes all' at Satta's expense I wouldn't be surprised either!
Okay, so that's all for tonight! I hope you enjoyed my little preview and we can kick off the 2019 season with a proper bang really soon!
Oh wait, I have some strange messages on my phone from Alessandra Ambrosio... honey, I don't speak Portuguese so give it a rest! Are you drunk or what? Is it New Year in Brazil already? Can't trust any brunette to show this thing called CLASS!!!
Happy New Year 2019 everyone!
