We are live at the Kooyong Stadium - the former venue of the Australian Open for all you tennis ignorants - where two fights are scheduled to take place under the joint BBU/ACB banner. Former flyweight title challenger Mollie King makes her return to the ring and local rumours indicate she might be staying around the southern hemisphere for a while yet - if the results justify making the long trip from England of course!
Sarah Cumming of the 'Green & Gold Magazine' provides the play-by-play commentary from Melbourne tonight.

BEFORE: Mollie King's rise to the flyweight elite has raised many eyebrows over the last several months even if her ultimate title challenge fell short to the BBU record-holder and P4P dominatrix Jenna Coleman back in April. She then knocked out Nadine Coyle but went into extended hiding during The Saturdays lingering hiatus and allowed bandmate Una Healy to headline the boxing news instead. Still, there's a life after Coleman for anyone in the league and Mollie's return to action fuels the rumours that she plans to tackle the living AWUBA and ACB legend Dannii Minogue come the new year as she arrives in Melbourne ready to blow the doors off Perth-born singer-songwriter Samantha Jade of The X Factor Australia fame. Samantha Jade wears a navy blue bikini top with white trim and white gloves. Dark brown hair with significant blonde dye tied in a sleek ponytail. Mollie King wears a neon pink bikini set with black trim and black gloves. Long blonde hair straight, tucked behind the ears. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division. Round 1: Mollie's been away from the ring for the past six months but she's thirsty for some proper action early on and that spells trouble for Samantha who gets caught in a jabbing blizzard during the opening minute and slides back to the ropes in a hectic retreat. However Mollie keeps coming back at her and methodically dissects her high guard for the remainder of the round which leads into an extended cover up display from the Aussie brunette. King gives her no quarter whatsoever and hammers in a series of body shots once she decides to ignore the desperate protection upstairs to run away with a landslide opener. Ugh! Sarah Cumming admires the no-nonsense approach from the English visitor and the Melbourne crowd gets a first-hand taste of a woman that caused the undisputed champion Jenna Coleman so much trouble earlier this season. Round 2: Obviously Mollie is a massive upgrade in competition over Keisha Buchanan - and Samantha actually lost to the former Sugababe - but the local spirits remain alive and kicking during the opening minute of the second round as the brunette rips a good series upstairs to briefly tame the English assault. King gets caught over the top as Jade whacks her on the mouth before sliding low on the guts however that's not good enough to throw the blonde visitor off her game plan; Mollie riffles immediate response glancing Samantha's temples and the war of attrition quickly ensues with both girls working on speed dial UNTIL Jade gets busted on the nose and loses her balance amid a wincing agony. Ugh! Should have seen this coming, hun! Mollie yells out in delight as she forces the Aussie singer back but cranks up the jabbing volume with another prolific barrage that caves Jade fully in and sends her butt-in-ropes come the bell. The ref has a hard time separating these two and Mollie's in the brunette's ear after the bell leading into some early jeers from the Melbourne audience. Round 3: Samantha tries to hang back in the third and avoids the suicidal war of attrition but Mollie drops the red mist mode herself and acts like a proven veteran to run the tables down on her visibly spooked opponent. This is not your everyday flyweight bash anymore but the English singer knows exactly what she's doing as she plans to lure Jade into a false sense of security. The crowd enoys the brief pause in the blonde's leather storm but the evil look in her eyes tells more than Sarah Cumming can provide for and to make matters worse, Samantha doesn't seem so keen to go after the blonde anymore either. She weathers the storm to live another round but truth be told, King basically allowed her to do that and the fight still hinges on the former BBU title challenger's performance. It's a safe bet like Packers winning the NFC North again. Round 4: The Western Bulldogs caused the footy upset by winning it all this season but it's a far cry for Samantha to repeat that heroics tonight. Mollie cranks it up again and the brunette loses her balance in a desperate attempt to fend off the heat, she gets caught with a left hook on the eye and slumps onto the ropes when the fellow singer picks her off from point blank-range thereafter. A couple of swings from the back foot hardly bring the desired solace and King keeps firing away from both sides to render her opponent completely frozen in a dangerous spot. Actually Jade does really well to hang on for this long as she takes plenty of abuse and Mollie has decked Jenna Coleman in that championship battle so she's not exactly a powder puff operator by any means. This being said, allthough Samantha avoids a collapse, she earns herself a nasty shiner across the right cheek and her left eye begins to swell badly come the bell with the Melbourne crowd quickly losing it's faith to boot. Mollie remains pumped up after the bell and Sarah Cumming reckons Samantha is broken mentally by this stage as she hardly holds back the tears while walking very slowly to her corner. Round 5: The Metermaids head trainer Holly Valance is missing from Jade's corner tonight as she ponders her own fighting options which leads Sarah Cumming to question the stable's effort to back their fighter against such a difficult opponent. Stablemates Isla Fisher and Emilie de Ravin provide the motley crew duty but that's nowhere near enough to stop King's momentum now as the partisan crowd gets to witness another aggressive English assault that dissects Samantha's guard for good in the fifth. The brunette gets whacked with the initial tangle and wobbles forward into a vicious uppercut on the jaw that opens the flood gates - like that's a new development alltogether - and reels a yelping Perth lass back to the turnbuckle where Mollie just applies the heat and batters her into a complete standstill. Isla and Emilie argue whether to throw in the towel here but The Saturdays singer takes care of that dispute and lands a PILEDRIVER to the nose that leaves Jade bleeding on the spot AND THE REF CHARGES IN TO STOP the looming disaster! Jade looks in terrible shape now and the fight couldn't have ended any sooner for her. Dominant TKO5 Mollie King!!! AFTER: It's a terrible way to open fight night in Melbourne but at least the partisan crowd is guaranteed a home victory in the other contest. Of course it doesn't help Samantha's cause anymore as the battered brunette literally runs back to the locker room to have her nose patched-up and ignores the pleas from Isla Fisher to at least thank the crowd for their support. Like who gives a ####? Meanwhile Emilie de Ravin vows to rearrange Mollie's face given the chance and openly lays down the challenge: "Who needs Dannii Minogue anyway? I can whup your sleazy ass all the way back..." Ugh! So much for that statement as Mollie tackles the fellow blonde to the canvas and oh-so nearly facesits her into a complete humiliation before Isla Fisher grabs the English lass by the hair and salvages whatever's left from The Metermaids pride. All three women engage in a verbal spat thereafter as the security crew arrives to keep the things under control but Sarah Cumming can't wait to see the next chapter of this scuffle. There's every chance Mollie remains on the Aussie guest tour for weeks to come and it's only ACB's profit if anyone can stop her elite train from rolling along the tracks. Final result: Mollie King def. Samantha Jade TKO5.

BEFORE: Carla Bonner blasted out Natalie Bassingthwaighte on her BBU debut back in September and now looks to repeat that performance against another Downunder Boxing bantamweight, Jessica Marais. This is a major upgrade in opposition for the 43 year old blonde actress as Marais won five of her last sixth bouts across both hemispheres and completely banished the broken jaw demons suffered at the start of her BBU career. We're live in Melbourne so locally born Bonner has the crowd on her side while 'Green & Gold's Sarah Cumming has spotted Melissa George in the VIP suite which suggests the Wildetime veteran eyes a comeback to the ring and might well challenge any of the two women currently climbing the ropes to a solid ovation from a blood thirsty audience. Jessica Marais wears a silver bikini set with green trim and black gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Carla Bonner wears a red bikini set with silver trim and silver gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a loose bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division. Round 1: The opening minute of this bout is largely uneventful because the seeing out proccess takes over quickly however Carla then deploys an uptempo charge and begins to stick her mitts straight into Jessica's face. The younger of the blondes is widely considered to be the more durable of the two yet Carla knows all about it herself and looks to shut her down as quickly as she did vs Bassingthwaighte on her debut. This being said, Marais is much faster across the canvas and she avoids the Bonner leather rush after that initial struggle and survives the final minute in full safety. Sarah Cumming thinks that Jessica must improve her aggressive balance if she hopes to win this fight through sheer exhaustion though. Round 2: Bonner comes out firing from the blocks and tangles with the younger blonde in the center of the ring however Marais is no longer that girl who got her jaw broken by another veteran and stands her ground during the heated exchange. She splits Carla's gloves repeatedly and snaps her head back before blasting a huge shot to the liver area that caves in the hitherto rampant cougar. From then on Jessica takes over and buries the older blonde under a barrage of punches, if only their placement was any better, she'd have Bonner gasping on the ropes but instead the fellow actress is able to clinch her and ride it out until the bell. Round 3: Jessica's taking the fight to the cougar again and sticks her mitts in Bonner's face to the point a noticeable lump appears below the left eye come the one minute mark. The younger blonde groans in her efforts to put Carla away but the veteran refuses to buckle and keeps faith in her aggressive approach despite several missed opportunities to land that crushing haymaker. Marais' creampuff reputation doesn't win her any betting friends - even on the Australian market - yet she shows plenty of heart trying to bulldoze Bonner back to the ropes. Her efforts come up short thanks to another lenghty clinching display from the older blonde though and the Melbourne audience begins to jeer at Bonner's tactics which is very surprising given her hometown billing. Round 4: Carla finally beats Jessica for the opening tangle and rips her across the mouth before a left/right combo finds the nose and dumps the younger blonde on her heels. Marais tries to swing one from the back foot but misses everything but the air and gets rocked with a left hook on the temple that channels some of the Bonner's late blooming prospects. Jessica aches out in pain and stumbles back to the ropes where the veteran traps her with a heated jabbing assault and keeps subdued for the remainder of the round. While Marais covers up in earmuff, she gets targeted to the body and slumps into more aching dismay as Carla leans on her and ravages the midsection at will showing plenty of raw power as even Sarah Cumming cringes in the booth when she notices the pink patches on the otherwise pale Marais skin. Ugh! That HAD to hurt the pretty blonde there! Round 5: Marais is slow to get up after taking that huge beating to the body and her durability is suddenly under moe fire as Bonner fakes another low approach before blasting a left hook on the temple that slumps the younger girl into a piercing uppercut within a split second! Oi, Jessica! Marais goes all wobbly butt as she winces in more pain but has no chance to avoid rapid fire treatment from point-blank range... Bonner hauls in a series of facial strikes with her foe's guard all at sea and another left hook to the temple SENDS JESSICA DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE just past the minute mark! The Melbourne crowd explodes in joy and the 'Neighbours' veteran lifts her right arm in the air as the other blonde rolls onto her face and desperately tries to beat the quick count. Marais' up at eight but looks somewhat misty-eyed and it's no wonder Bonner applies the power punching afterwards which successfully breaks her opponent's spirit more than anything else. Jessica gets pounded back to the ropes and just screams out her demise as the punches begin to rack up on her quickly swelling face. She closes her eyes instead of just striking back at her nemesis and almost turns her back to Bonner before resting on the ropes for good. THE REF HALTS THE LOOMING PUNCHBAG SCRIPT and hauls Carla off her prey just in time for Marais to avoid another serious facial injury! TKO5 Carla Bonner!!! AFTER: Carla turned some heads when she dismantled Natalie Bassingthwaighte on her official ACB/BBU but several pundits still questioned whether she can actually repeat that performance against a younger opponent. Well, Sarah Cumming admits the 43 year old cougar silenced her critics tonight with a brutal stoppage of Jessica Marais that was all but wrapped up during a six minute span starting with round number four. It's unlikely she reaches the elite stardom given her age but there are plenty of seasoned journeyowmen as well as prosmising upstarts that can suddenly feel threatened by her arrival on the boxing scene. Nobody's gonna risk a reputation blow of refusing to fight someone born in the early 70s after all and Carla's confident albeit a little cocky demeanour is just what the ACB entourage needed marketing-wise as well. Melissa George seems ready to agree with that statement as she drops a hint on twitter hours after the conclusion of this event. Final result: Carla Bonner def. Jessica Marais TKO5.
