Tulisa Contostavlos vs Zara McDermott
(8-14, 7 KO vs 1-0, 1 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: Tulisa Contostavlos was singled out as future opponent after Zara McDermott's debut victory performance earlier this month and the BBU fans didn't have to wait too long to see this fight happen. Tulisa hopes to make a break-through in JMD rules but accepts the newcomer's challenger and thinks her experience will be enough to overcome the confident blonde. Meanwhile Zara is ready to destroy the singer whom she dismisses as "punchbag has-been". These reality TV starlets are never short of attitude but let's see if the blonde can walk the walk here in Cardiff tonight.
Tulisa Contostavlos wears a black bikini set & red gloves. Long black hair loose & straight. Zara McDermott wears a violet bikini set & silver gloves. Long dark blonde hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Zara gets off to a hot start and pummels away at the brunette's body before blowing a quick uppercut on the chin. Tulisa wobbles to her heels and struggles to connect with a defensive stance which only allows the blonde to cash in with more pesky jabs as she backs the older girl onto the ropes. Ugh! Tulisa is too slow to get going here and eats more nasty shots up the middle while Zara just keeps working on the speed dial and buries the brunette behind a tight earmuff. Final minute and there's more action from the 'Love Island' alumni who splits the desperate high guard and knocks Tulisa's head back in back & forth fashion before a drilling hook on the navel leaves the singer gasping for air at the bell.
Tulisa looks so rusty that her experience advantage counts for nothing against Zara's gung-ho delivery. Both women exchange several hard licks in the center of the ring but Zara simply lands more juice in the process and wobbles her rival on the heels before blasting a left cross on the nose which sends Contostavlos into a hurried retreat. McDermott jumps after her with more hooking delivery and lands more shots on target while Tulisa slumps on the ropes and has to seek a clinching rescue. Zara gets vocal and taunts the subdued singer for a while before shaking her off and blowing another uppercut double on the chin. Tulisa's legs buckle upon impact, she swings a desperate heave off target and gets clocked from the inside as the blonde moves in for the big money drive. She thumps the brunette into a standstill in the corner and only the bell halts her charge as she was set to drop the older woman for the count according to Kate Abdo in the booth!
No luck for Tulisa who eats a left/right combo early in the third and struggles to match the blonde's intensity thereafter. Zara goes off from both flanks and dissects the singer's high-guard with ease before landing a cruel bomb on the temple that folds Tulisa forward. Cue in another uppercut strike and Tulisa goes all numb upon impact... Zara whacks her with another cross hook on the nose and that punch DROPS TULISA DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE!!! Ugh! The Cardiff fans give the 'Love Island' girl a loud ovation but this fight is not over yet as Contostavlos battles back to her feet at eight and vows to make it a proper battle after all. However she remains glued to the spot when McDermott resumes the jabbing pounce and gets pounded back to the ropes where the Essex woman pancakes her from both flanks and only gets denied by the bell for the second time tonight! Huh! She is verbally upset at the bell but the writing is very much on the wall!
Here comes Zara for another slugging tangle, she ducks underneath a looping cross from the ailing singer and SMOKES her with a brutal right hook five seconds into the round. Tulisa goes all numb and shrieks out her struggles... she bends to the side just as Zara piles on another drilling hook that finds the jaw and SENDS THE BRUNETTE DOWN AGAIN!!! Uh-oh!!! That was a downright brutal punch right there that leaves Tulisa sobbing on the canvas and the referee doesn't even bother with the count!!! KO4 Zara McDermott!!!
AFTER: The 'Love Island' starlet really means business here and delivers another head-turning performance! She keeps her original promise and calls out Cara De La Hoyde again however most BBU fans on the social media wall wonder if Molly-Mae Hague stands by her own comments and sets up a Next Gen clash sooner or later? Meanwhile Tulisa exits the ring still choking on some tears and it's anyone's guess whether she can escape the journeywoman status going forward. Her arrow isn't pointing up whatsoever.
Official Result: Zara McDermott def. Tulisa Contostavlos KO4.
