Real View Intro: Hello ladies and gentlemen; on Tuesday we had the January BBU PPV; New Year's Bash certainly lived up to its name, with two title fights and a bumper helping on the undercard. It was a hell of a night to get this year off to a cracking start.
As always we urge that if you haven't read the PPV and fights from the past week, please go read them. We will be spoiling results and we would hate to rob you of the fun of reading the fights.
We will be looking at four of the big bouts from the card. Including of course the BBU bantamweight title bout between Rita Ora and Sophia Thomalla, along with the lightweight title affair between Italian lightweight champion Valentina Fradegrada and the BBU world lightweight champion Holly Peers.
Thank you to all the writers who made the BBU PPV happen. Without the managers and writers of the BBU we would struggle to do this every week.

Part 1: BBU bantamweight title bout The main event of the New Year's Bash PPV saw Rita Ora challenge Sophia Thomalla for the bantamweight title. Sophia undefeated going into the bout. Could Rita win it all with the title and the legacy of being the first to defeat Sophia?
The build up saw pundits including ourselves not giving Rita much hope. She seemed to be very motivated when she stepped into the ring, something you could not always say about her career. Physically she looked very impressive, so the upset could be on right?
If the opening round was going to show the keys for victory for Ora, well her plan clearly was to try to overwhelm the champion with quick fire combos. Sophia looked a little annoyed more then hurt as she boxed on the outside. Coming on strong late in the first round to show Rita she wasn't going to be bullied by the challenger.
Rita looked to keep on the same track but was promptly met by some nasty hooks over the top when her hands dipped down too low. The one thing you had to give Ora though was she had come to fight, this wasn't simply a payday for her as some of her earlier career fights seemed to have been.
Still you felt the momentum could easily switch over. It certainly did in the third round as Sophia battered back Rita. The British singer looked a little disturbed when getting caught clean by Thomalla. With punches smacking Rita more cleanly as the fight wore on, busting her nose up to the delight of the German fans.
That would be what led to the downfall of Rita. A nasty right hook onto the bloody nose in the fifth dropped Rita's guard down. Another pounding right ended her night with her on her back. Tears running down Rita's face as the ten count came and went. Sophia now fifteen and zero in her career.
It was a good little scrap and was nice to see Rita turn up to win. Problem was that maybe that lack of building herself up through her career led to her not being prepared properly for the biggest night of her life. When you should be in the gym giving your all instead of spells laying on a beach in your best bikinis. She seems a case of wasted potential.
Sophia on the other hand is the polar reserve. Someone who from her teens has been doing fight training, works out vigorously and is tough. All those factors has led her to being arguably the most dominant bantamweight in BBU history. Maybe the most dominant fighter in any division. With women emerging like Millie Bobby Brown too. The age of these new undefeated fighters has come in celebrity female boxing. The big question of course is who can defeat these women?

Part 2: BBU lightweight title bout For the second time BBU Italian lightweight champion Valentina Fradegrada looked to attempt to dethrone BBU world lightweight champion Holly Peers. The first bout was a back and forth war between two hard hitting models. Could round two live up to the same billing?
Not much was said in the build up beyond the usual "I will beat them" you would expect of any fight, instead both were saving their energy for fighting. With Valentina especially stoic as she knows how dangerous Holly can be after having her lights put out by her.
Right out the gates Valentina wanted to dominate her foe. Putting down Holly within the first fifty seconds of the fight. Holly got to her feet and toughed out the opening round as the challenger looked to shock the world with such an early victory. Wren the round end Valentina was on her stool clearly itching to resume.
Holly would respond in the second round by matching the intensity of Valentina, shocking her opponent in the third round by putting down Valentina for a count of eight after a sneaky uppercut landed flush on the Italian beauties chin. Valentina pushed herself up and didn't lose any of her fire.
Things looked bad for the champion as Fradegrada started to pile the pressure on her. Leading to a controversial moment, Holly sneakily landed an uppercut between the legs of Valentina before landing across her chin. Down went Valentina for the count to a mixture of cheers and some boos from those who caught what happened.
I don't see Holly giving Valentina a third crack at the bell, even though there is an argument to be had that Valentina looked on the road to victory before the low blow. The record books though will show that Holly is two and zero over Valentina. Who we have been told will focus on defending her belt next month. Will Valentina be in good enough shape to successfully keep her title?

Part 3: Vanessa White Vs Ewelina Lisowska The biggest flyweight bout on the card in terms of possible rankings. Vanessa White wanted a real marquee victory on her record as she took on former BBU flyweight champion Ewelina Lisowska. Who was trying to find her mojo again that at one point made her the most fearsome flyweight in the division.
Both women came into the ring looking in great shape even after a little lay off. When the bell rung it was Vanessa who took the first to Ewelina out the gate, forcing the issue early on as they exchanged. Vanessa buried a few punches around the stomach of Ewelina to push her back a few steps as she looked in good form.
Ewelina came roaring back in the second round with her crisp jab. Vanessa wasn't being allowed time to open up as much. Ewelina showing glimpses of what made her such a hard fighter to defeat. While White stuck in as best she could but was being beaten around her face.
Then things turned on one big moment, Ewelina tried to swing in a right hook that Vanessa caught on her shoulder as she stepped into the space. A counter right of her own allowed Vanessa to put down Ewelina, who looked a little shellshocked as she looked up from her backside, getting up at six to be beaten back right away.
Ewelina didn't look so good pushing to her feet for the fifth round. Vanessa was smart to pick her timing instead of rushing in. Soon enough the opening presented itself and boom! Ewelina was sent flush onto her back by a right with vicious intentions. This time Lisowska couldn't beat the count as we got our upset of the night.
Don't get me wrong Vanessa had a decent record but she made a career of losing the big fights. This time she grabbed the opportunity with both hands to prove she deserves more respect. A title opportunity might still be a little early for her considering she had lost two fights before this one. For her career though you hope this is the win that gives her the confidence to say she can do this at the highest level.
While Ewelina must be wondering what went wrong. Inna defeating her last year wasn't such a shock but this was a minor one. Has Ewelina the drive after being on the mountain top and losing the title? Her management team will be hoping to coax Vanessa back into being the machine she was.

Part 4: Ivana Baquero Vs Tatiana Maslany Ivana Baquero and the Lookout! Atlantic Boxing flyweight corps is a story on its on. The former BBU flyweight champion has battled some of its members in the best. The latest to the plate hoping to knock her head off was "She-Hulk" star Tatiana Maslany.
Tatiana was making a minor comeback as she looks to be trying to do more this time around in her career. Calling out Ivana to fight her seemed an odd choice, when Jenna Louise Coleman was spotted outside the ring on fight night, things started to make more sense as Ivana and Jenna simply hate one another.
But Tatiana wasn't simply there to hurt Ivana for her stable, she was clearly after the major boost to her career with a win. Taking the fight to Ivana with her extra height advantage. Roughing Ivana up on the outside as Ivana wasn't having things her way. The Spanish slugger couldn't get in close enough to really wear down Tatiana over the opening third rounds.
Ivana isn't a quitter as she started to tough it out, finding ways to close the distance and really open up on Tatiana. Who looked in maybe the best shape of her life as she pushed Ivana back and looked to open up on her again. Jenna certainly looked please as she watched Ivana get kept back.
In the end though Tatiana got caught with a nasty right hook under her ribs. Tatiana cried out as her eyes shut for a moment. Another pounding right hook looked to lift her ribs, down went Maslany with her gumshield spat out. Tatiana was hurting too much to get back to her feet.
As soon as the bell rung then all hell broke loose. Ivana got out the ring with her gloves left in the ring. Making a beeline for Jenna as they fought with a barrier between them, yanking out hair after swinging bare fists at each other. Clearly the score between them is far from settled as they were pulled apart. Ivana making it clear she wants to fight her bitter rival again, if their prior three fights is anything to go by, this will be another classic.
Tatiana shouldn't be forgotten in all this. She held her own against a former champion. I wonder if she keeps at it this time if she could get a run under her, though it might be wise to choose an easier opponent. On this performance she would beat a few good fighters.
That's all we have time for folks. Thank you so much to the wonderful BBU fans for taking the time to read these posts. I hope you enjoyed them all. We will be back next Sunday morning with the next edition of the Real View.
