Fighter of the Year 2024:
I can tell you for a fact that the fighters of the BBU value this award highly since you, our wonderful BBU fans get to pick the winner. We have seen the rise of some new stars, great champions doing battle and some legends come to the BBU. Which of the following four fighters deserves to be recognised as the best in the world over the past year?
Sophia Thomalla (current BBU bantamweight champion) yearly W/L record: 3-0 (3KOs)
Over this year Sophia Thomalla has continued to prove why she is the cream of the crop in the bantamweight division and why she is in the running for the best pound for pound fighter in the BBU. She has beaten Maisie Smith, Nadia Forde and started the year off by beating Rita Ora.
Jorgie Porter (current BBU Flyweight champion) yearly W/L record: 5-0 (5KOs)
Jorgie Porter went from being a gatekeeper in some people's eyes to being the best in the flyweight division. She is very much in the argument to be the best in all the BBU. She has beaten in the past year former champions like Cheryl Cole, top contenders like Marnie Simpson and Bianca Atzei. Undefeated in a busy year as she has been motivated to prove she is a future legend.
Josephine Skriver: (former BBU Welterweight champion) yearly W/L record: 3-1
Last year was arguably her breakout year after winning the BBU welterweight title. Josephine set out to show where she really stood in the world as she beat top challengers like Mathilde Gohler, along with winning the big pound for pound clash as she defeated Hailey Clauson (who will mention in a moment) to retain her title. Only Romee Strijd could stop her run as champion this year.
Hailey Clauson (current BBU JMDD champion) yearly W/L record: 4-1 (4KOs)
The BBU JMDD champion is to some the best in all the world right now, to others she is just behind the best. The fact is over the past three years she has been in the argument. This year has seen her defeat the likes of Ivana Knoll and Kelly Brook. Her lone loss as we say is to Josephine and she has a fight of the year contender with Kara Del Toro.
