Part 1: BBU JMDD title bout Hailee Lautenbach Vs Hailey Clauson review This was certainly an interesting bout, especially if you were on commentary. 😜 Hailey Clauson has seemed unstoppable when it comes to the BBU JMDD division. As always a new year can mean a new start to a division. Hailee Lautenbach hoped to be the one to usher in a new era with her on top.
While the pre-fight press conference was mostly respectful between them, the tension was clear to see as this meant so much to both. For Clauson the JMDD title here in the BBU has been her trump card to show she is one of the pound for pound elite in the world. For Lautenbach it was a chance to prove she belonged in that conversation after working her way through the JMDD rankings.
One thing was for certain when the bell rung, Lautenbach was highly motivated! She came out swinging and actually bullied around Clauson. The champion looked somewhat shell shocked at the end of the round as she walked back to her corner like a tornado had hit her.
Lautenbach was keeping the pressure on, Clauson needing her experience not to be overwhelmed. The tactics for the challenger were clear, overwhelm the champion and make her either quit or knock her out. It looked a winning tactic by the end of the third round as Clauson looked puzzled by what was happening.
After that though Clauson put the heat back on her opponent. She didn't go full throttle straight at her, no she switched up her distances, threw hard hooks and sent a message to her challenger that she owned the ring. Lautenbach didn't seem so confident after taking some heavy shots while her own were drying up.
In the sixth round Clauson made her move, knocking down Lautenbach in a hail of punches. The challenger stood up but after thirty seconds of attempted defence, the fight was over as the referee had seen enough and Lautenbach was in tears as her chance at glory had slipped through her fingers.
Lautenbach looks to have good potential, just is she physical enough to really be at the top. She caught out Clauson with her tactics but once the power came back her way from a more muscular fighter, she couldn't resist and had to submit the fight. While Clauson simply seems perfectly made for JMD and you have to feel a welterweight title has to come at some point with how great she has been fighting these past two years.

Part 2: ACB lightweight title bout: Poppy Montgomery vs Yvonne Strahovski review This was an intriguing bout on a few levels. The ACB lightweight title means a lot to Poppy Montgomery and at over fifty, people wondered if she had enough in the tank to really return back to the title.
In their lone bout previous to the one on Wednesday, Yvonne did her tour of her home country and beat Poppy on a beach. This time it was in an indoor arena in a traditional ring. While the first bout was friendly enough, you could see how much the title meant to both women as they exchanged a few heated words.
Once the bell rung Poppy showed some flashes of her previous brilliance, Yvonne looked to start off well but she found the jab of Poppy smacking into her face repeatedly to give her something to worry about in the early going.
If you never got the chance to see Poppy in her prime, she showed moments of what made her a champion. Crisp counters for example slammed into Yvonne's face, body shots and crowding the champion allowed those wanting to see the Cinderella story come true to have hope.
Sadly for those people though Yvonne showed why she is elite with some nasty body shots that wore down the older woman. The sixth round Poppy was hurting and a nasty counter right to the button put Poppy down to her back. Moments later the count finished and Poppy ended her career as she left her gloves in the ring and waved her fellow countrymen and women goodbye.
While one chapter ends on a sad note in the ACB. The chapter of Yvonne's reign as lightweight champion has started brightly. She has made it clear she wants to cement herself as the greatest champion in the divisions history. She certainly is a celebrity boxing hall of famer already but she never really showed her talents in her home nation, she is looking to rectify that before she retires.

Part 3: Zara Holland Vs Leah Perkins review What happens when you put two of the best in a division who want a shot at the BBU belt against each other? Well Zara Holland and ACB bantamweight champion Leah Perkins wanted to see which of them deserved a shot at the BBU flyweight title and knew the best way to it is through the other.
They had prior history with Zara previously knocking out Leah's sister Mimi. Leah of course wasn't happy about that, while Zara made sure that she expected to do the double before they stepped into the ring on Wednesday.
This felt like a true grudge fight as Leah looked to charge her opponent from the off. The problem for Leah was Zara expected it, blocking the early shots before drilling her back into her face with flush punches. Leah looked miffed to say the least when she sat on her stool at the end of the first round.
Back came the ACB champion as she peppered the face of Zara, crowding her at times to force the English fighter into a slugging contest. Zara is a hard hitter but she was being forced to exchange in tight, which looked to suit Perkins in this contest.
But Leah would get her nose busted up in the fourth round. That would be her downfall as Leah was beaten around her face. In the fifth Leah tried her best but Zara bullied her back with blood staining her gloves and finally did the double as she hammered down her foe with a barrage.
While the fight maybe could have went longer if Leah's nose didn't get bloodied up. It was a cracking affair and Zara seems to have the number of people with the surname Perkins. This was a phenomenal return to form for the former BBU flyweight champion. Could 2024 be the year she returns to the mountain top?

Part 4: Ela Kawalec Vs Emily Ratajkowski The big question for Ela Kawalec was could she conquer her boogeywoman in boxing? Emily Ratajkowski had Ela's number twice in the FCBA, with this being one of the newer but most heated feuds between the sister stables of the Vixens and Sirens.
Before a punch had been thrown, the verbal jousting between them was a sight to behold. Ela making it clear she was ready to surpass Emily, while Emily simply saw the fight as a foregone conclusion. Neither looked the least bit afraid of the other as they would meet in a JMD rules contest.
Right away these two were getting into each others grills giving their rival a piece of their mind and fists. the tactics for Ela were clear as she looked to cut the ring off so she could pressure Emily. The former FCBA JMD champion wasn't so easily pinned down as she came firing back.
These two lit each other up in their exchanges. Emily at times showed why she is elite with movement and precision. Ela wouldn't let her breath so easily with crunching body shots. Emily looked worried as the rounds went by and she wasn't denting Ela as easily as she had in previous encounters.
Finally in the sixth round Ratajkowski took all she could. Ela knocked her down and Emily was too sore and tired to push up to her feet. The relief on Ela's face was a picture as she finally earned revenge against one of her greatest tests in the boxing ring.
This should push Ela firmly in JMD title contention, beating a former champion is it's own reward. Beating one of the best today proves she has the tools to go all the way. While Emily might think twice about coming to the BBU again.
That's all we have time for folks, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read these posts. To all the writers who made the BBU PPV and of course to you, our wonderful BBU fans. Hopefully we will be back next Sunday morning for the next edition of the Real View.
