Real View Intro:Hello ladies and gentleman; it was quite the week in the BBU. First we will be discussing the Spring Sellout card that took place on Friday night. Four bouts made up a fun night of boxing with some drama. Here is a link to those bouts: bbuchat.freeforums.net/board/113/spring-sellout-2024While sadly we won't have time to discuss this contest. Nikki Sanderson and Roxanne Pallett had a interstable grudge bout to kick the week off. Here is the link to that bout: bbuchat.freeforums.net/thread/2584/nikki-sanderson-kears-roxanne-pallettAs always we recommend that if you haven't read the bouts from this past week that you go look them up. We will of course be spoiling them in our reviews. While also you will be robbing yourself the enjoyment of wonderfully written fights.

Part 1: Diana Korkunova Vs Zara Holland We got a rematch four years in the making to headline the PPV. Diana Korkunova lost last time she stepped foot into a ring with Zara Holland. The blonde powerhouse was able to wear down her fellow former BBU flyweight champion alumni and knock her out. Would history repeat itself?
While things were somewhat respectful in the build up, the tension was still clear between two fighters not used to being second best. They knew how dangerous the other woman was but you could see they weren't too worried about their own chances.
Round one saw both set out their stalls. Diana up on her toes wanting to use quickness and precision, Zara wanted to press and lay on her power to her opponent. It was Holland who started off stronger as she was able to cut off the ring effectively enough to give Korkunova an early reminder of what happened last time they fought. With a knockdown from the blonde in the third cementing that lead.
But either Zara was getting overly confident or Diana had found her answers to the English fighters riddle. Counter shots were hammering straight down the center into the face of Zara to knock her back. It led to a knockdown from Diana to her rival to get the crowd on its feet.
The drama though really came after that knockdown. Later in the seventh round Diana was forcing Zara to hold, when the blonde wasn't she was being smacked back. The referee decided they had seen enough, stepping in and waving the fight off as they felt Zara was simply a punch bag.
Before we discuss the stoppage, we have to say that Zara was out of order for a sneak attack on Diana when the raven haired fighter was celebrating. Diane would end the night looking at the lights as the referee risked their health to stop Zara inflicting more damage. I suspect a fine was in the post right away.
Now to the stoppage itself. One thing you learn over the years is that referees see stuff we don't. They get the best look at a fighters eyes, their mannerisms. Clearly the referee felt that Zara was reeling and just taking punishment for punishment sake. Zara of course firmly disagrees and I know the final footage of Diana being on the deck as Zara was standing would look as concrete as you could get that she is right. That is ignoring the overall picture of her getting time to recover and sucking punching an unprepared Diana.
At the end of the day this fight will be debated probably all this year. I suspect we'll see a rematch quicker then four years between them to hopefully settle the arguments of who is the better boxer. While we disagree with Zara's attack. We would be lying if we didn't want a rematch ourselves.

Part 2: Yasmin Verheijen vs Tanya Mityushina On the undercard we'll start by discussing the contest between Dutch beauty Yasmin Verheijen and her Russian rival Tanya Mityushina. You had a former lightweight title challenger in Yasmin taking on a hungry up and coming fighter in Tanya.
This bout had a fiery start as both looked up for it. Tanya was forcing the issue with some nasty looking hooks out her guard. Yasmin looked annoyed that she couldn't really get going in that round as she walked back to her stool shaking her head.
Yasmin came on strong in the second and third round with more stiffer jabs and lacing Tanya across her face with a few power shots of her own. Yasmin looked to be growing in confidence till late in the third when she was caught with a nasty punch on her chin to reel her back.
Suddenly Tanya was firmly in control as she caught Yasmin in her ear with a brutal left hook to end the Dutch fighter to her side. Yasmin beat the count, problem was she was simply getting beaten back and the fight was stopped. Yasmin didn't look to complain about being stopped for her safety.
This was a little upset as Tanya has nasty power when she can let the trigger go. Yasmin is the one with the backing, the experience and arguably better skills. Yet Yasmin finds herself wondering what is going on with herself, while Tanya moves up the rankings with three wins out of six on her record.

Part 3: Zara McDermott vs Laura Whitmore Former Love Island alumni Zara McDermott took on former Love Island host Laura Whitmore. While both women know each other well and generally seemed ok with their opponent. Of course they both made it clear that all that mattered was victory.
Especially when you look at what has happened to both fighters in recent times. Zara is looking like a good potential challenger at JMD and bantamweight. A loss to Nata Lee in the FCBA could have knocked her confidence. While Laura had a point to prove after being cut by her stable only last week.
Understandably this bout might have come a little soon for Laura after that shock of being booted out of Frankie's Foxes. She was hit early on by a very motivated Zara. Who looked very focused to make a statement as she kept on moving forwards.
Mind it might also have simply been Laura not being able to take these power shots like she used too. The second round saw her being beaten till finally a flush left hook sent her to the shadow realm as she hit the canvas out cold. Certainly a statement knockout from McDermott!
While arguably this isn't the win to brag about for Zara, after her loss to Nata it has to be seen as a great way of regaining confidence and reminding a few doubters that she truly has that killer instinct. It'll be interesting to see where she goes next as she looks to claim gold or a diamond encrusted title bra in future.
Laura meanwhile must be mentally and certainly physically broken! What a hell of a bad two weeks she has had. Still she has proven she can pick herself up in previous years when things have gone wrong, she'll need to get that resilience back. Problem is how many times can you drag yourself off rock bottom before you can't find the strength anymore to push to your feet?

Part 4: Lily-Rose Depp vs Julia Wieniawa This was a bout that came about a few weeks ago when Julia Weiniawa it clear she wanted a chance to knock Lily-Rose Depp's head off in the ring. Lily-Rose has struggled for consistency but has been known to pull of upsets from time to time, was this going to be one of those times?
Lily-Rose certainly knew she needed a fast start, coming out using uppercuts as soon as she could to throw Julia off her rhthym. Things slowed down though for Depp in the opener when she was caught by a few clean shots as she stepped forwards.
But after that point Julia started to rock back the lithe Lily-Rose with her punches. Lily-Rose tried to stick and move around her older foe, the big issue was she was not getting room to move safely into, instead being trapped by the vicious Weiniawa.
The third round saw the curtain fall on the board as a clean hook to the side of Depp's head sent her to the canvas, out for the ten count and another loss on her record. Julia meanwhile improves to three wins and no losses as she looks to keep moving forwards.
The next bout in mind for Julia is Georgia May Foote. That should be interesting as Georgia was looking a contender at one point of her career. Problem is as her fans will tell you that she lacked motivation to really kick on and the past few years haven't been brilliant by any stretch. Still she can give anyone a headache when on form.
That's all we have time for folks! Thank you so much to Caspian, Knowlesley and Vassago for their bouts from the past week. Also to you for taking the time to read these posts, we hope you enjoyed them. We will be back next Sunday morning for the next edition of the Real View.
