Part 1: Miyabi Yamaoka vs Jessica-Jane Clement Front Street Japan has been one of the oldest stables in the BBU. They look like they are trying to enter a new era with new fighters signing up. One of them was Miyabi Yamaoka, who is a gravure model. She will certainly have an interesting time training alongside her friends and rivals from that scene in her stable.
Her debut opponent was Jessica-Jane Clement. The former model and actress is someone who once was a title contender. Now she is a yard stick in some people's minds. Of course she'd disagree with you on that front. She took the fee from the FSJ stable to fly to Japan to fight the new fighter.
It looked like Jessica was taking things too lightly at the start. Miyabi was landing some nice combinations to push back the veteran. Jessica did catch her with a nice left hook late in the opener to show she could cause the rookie a few problems. Driving back Miyabi late in the round.
Miyabi was beating Jessica to the punch through the next two rounds. Making Jessica have to change tactics in the next two rounds. Working the body of the Japanese fighter did help Clements chances as she had Yamaoka was being muscled back.
But in the fifth round Jessica was hurt by a harpoon like right to the body. She was worn down and by the sixth round, she was wide open for an uppercut that knocked her out. Miyabi getting her debut win on the board to get the crowd off their feet.
This was a solid performance for Miyabi that I think says more about her then any downgrade on Jessica. Who is not the fighter she was a few years ago. Still she can cause you problems on her day. Miyabi is one to keep an eye on and the Front Street Japan stable as they sign more fighters up. Will they all look as good a prospects as Miyabi look to be.

Part 2: Jesy Nelson Vs Renee Herbert The main event last night in Cardiff saw two women trying to turn their fortunes around at each others expenses. Jesy Nelson was booted out the Frankie's Foxes stable after a poor run of form. While Renee Herbert hadn't won a fight since December 2022.
Both certainly looked sure they'd be the one leaving the other in the dust as they were introduced by the announcer. Jesy came flying out the gates and met some stiff shots from range to make her wonder how wise she was to charge forwards like that.
Things simply didn't improve for Nelson. She was being beaten to the punch time and again. It wasn't long till the third round saw her take a knee due to a nasty looking right to her stomach. Jesy looked furious as Renee was telling Jesy's coach to throw in the towel, what a show of disrespect to the former "Little Mix" star.
That lack of respect though was warranted when under a minute into the fourth round a nasty right hook sent Jesy crumbling to the canvas. Renee scored the knockout victory to finally get her name back on the winners side of things. While Jesy had to be helped out the ring so she could be checked over backstage.
This was simply an arse kicking for Nelson. Who was outclassed by a bigger fighter. Jesy will most likely go back to JMD rules bout. The crowd who dislike Jesy from her leaving "Little Mix" the way she did probably hopes she signs up for bare knuckle bouts just to see her get beaten up.
While Renee wasn't tested; the main thing for her to get that winning feeling back. After struggling to get one for over a year, sometimes it best to just get the confidence back before working on what her issues are. Renee is seen as one of the hot ticket fighters in the ACB. So expect to see more of her going forwards.

Part 3: Luisa Zissman Vs Yumi Kobayashi We got to also witness the debut of Yumi Kobayashi in Cardiff. The Front Street Japan stable have certainly been quick to sign up several stars this week. Yumi had all eyes on her if she could score a victory like Miyabi did.
Luisa Zissman meanwhile has been after a fight with Helen Flanagan for basically a decade plus. A few defeats lately though caused that fight to go on the back burner. Luisa was happy to take on Yumi as both had a point to prove.
The first three rounds looked a great advertisment for Yumi and Front Street Japan. She was controlling the pace against her more experienced opponent. Whether Luisa was not expecting it or Yumi was showing genuine flashes of brilliance, we can safely say the scorecards would all say 30-27 to Kobayashi.
But the rookie started to make a few little mistakes in round four as Luisa turned the bout into a grindfest. Bodies being pounded in tight. That led to a clash of heads that Luisa took advantage of as she caught Yumi with several power shots to knock her backwards.
Round five saw the curtain call as Yumi was eating some nasty hooks. A missed left by the Japanese star left her open to a right hook on her ear that clubbed her to the canvas. Yumi didn't have the senses to be able to get up as she was knocked loopy by the hard hitting businesswoman.
It'll be interesting to see how Front Street Japan's coach sees this bout. Yumi showed plenty in the early round to give two thumbs up for. Problem is those last two rounds were awful for her. It could simply be a focus issue that needs to be worked upon.
Luisa on the other hand gets the important win. Of course Helen Flanagan fans were on social media telling Luisa that Helen would batter her on that performance. Can Luisa earn her chance to prove she is the better woman against Helen after all the years of venomous insults between them?

Part 4: BBU top 10 pound for pound rankings Due to ill health over this year I haven't been able to really to do things like pound for pound rankings in a good while. But as hopefully I am healing up nicely, let's see how much arguments we can cause, debates on who deserves to be where as we give you the top ten fighters in the BBU.
Top Ten Rankings P4P May 2024 1. Hailey Clauson (BBU JMDD champion) BBU overall record: 30-5, yearly record: 5-1 She was not perfect as a loss in her Welterweight title bout with Josephine Skriver stopped her going undefeated over the last twelve months. But her JMDD title is firmly hers after she defeated Ivana Knoll, Kara Del Toro, Nicola Cavanis, Alina Vacariu and this year defeated Hailee Lautenbach. It will be interesting to see where Hailee goes this year for challengers and if she can break her duck on welterweight titles.
2. Sophia Thomalla (BBU bantamweight champion) BBU overall record: 17-1, yearly record: 2-0. Sophia has been a dominant force in the bantamweight division since she stepped for in a boxing ring. The bantamweight champion has held the title for nearly three year! She beat Maisie Smith in a hard fought rematch and Nadia Forde to retain her title. Simply activity is what kept her off the top spot. If she fights more this year and can continue her dominance in her division, then she will most likely be the undisputed number one in the rankings.
3. Michelle Keegan (BBU flyweight champion) BBU overall record: 32-29 yearly record: 5-1 The return to the mountain top of the flyweight division been an interesting story to follow. Michelle finished her return to the title by defeating Jorgie Porter a month ago. Before that over this year she has defeated the likes of Jessica Alba. Won the Coronation Street tournament, her only loss is Samaria Regalado beat her. It'll be intriguing to see how long she can keep this form up after having a few rough years previously. Now she seems to have refound her mojo.
4. Jorgie Porter, BBU overall record: 25-9, yearly record: 2-1 Jorgie was till recently a dominant BBU flyweight champion. If not for Michelle Keegan dethroning her, she'd be challenging right at the top of the rankings. She did in the past twelve months knock back the challenges of Ill Cheng and Bianca Atzei, hence why she is still high in the rankings. The problem going forwards of course is can she bounce back strong enough to keep this status or will she drop down the rankings like a stone as several other former champions have in history.
5. Robin Holzken (BBU lightweight champion) BBU overall record: 9-1 yearly record: 3-0 Robin has put herself in the argument to be the best Dutch fighter during a revolution for the country in celebrity female boxing. She is ahead of her rival for that title on our rankings due to her strength of schedule. She defeated Karolina Kurkova, Alessia Uva and won the lightweight title from Holly Peers. We can't wait to see who Robin has in mind for her first title defence.
6. Romee Strijd (BBU welterweight champion) BBU overall record: 1-1, yearly record: 1-0. Romee is the other side of the Dutch revolution who has claimed a title in the BBU. While Romee hasn't been doing a lot in the BBU. She did defeat Josephine Skriver to win the Welterweight title from her. Romee like Robin needs to defend her title if she hopes to move up the rankings. Still she holds one major victory and expect more to come from her.
7. Josephine Skriver, BBU overall record: 17-4, yearly record: 2-1 There's an argument to say she could be above Romee but we felt Romee's win over Josephine was the telling factor where they placed. Josephine though can't be forgotten she defeated Hailey Clauson and Kelly Brook. This will be a rebuild year for her.
8. Diana Korkunova BBU overall record: 30-7, yearly record: 3-0 The former BBU flyweight champion has been trying to get back her crown. She certainly has made a case for being a contender with her run in the past twelve months. She defeated her nemesis Zara Holland this year. Before that beating Leah Perkins and Savannah McCray.
9. Joan Small BBU overall record: 17-4, yearly record: 4-0. Joan begun her return to the ring last year by defeating BBU English welterweight champion Leah Francis. After that she defeated Alexina Graham twice and Lorena Rae. Not a bad way to reintroduce yourself to the BBU universe. Can she push onwards for a Welterweight title shot this year?
10. Klaudia El Dursi BBU overall record: 5-0, yearly record: 5-0. The Polish model has made a heck of a start to her career. Starting off by defeating Hall of Famer Alesha Dixon, she also defeated former champion Rochelle Humes and has been unstoppable so far. She will need to continue stepping up in class but we could see her challenge Sophia Thomalla later this year. Now that's a bumper fight.
(yearly record goes from 1st May 2023 to 11th May 2024)
That's all we have time for folks, thank you to everyone who took the time to read these posts. Also a big thank you to Vassago for writing the bouts from this week. We will be back next Sunday morning for the next edition of the Real View.
