Part 2: flyweight title contenders raceAlready we have had one stunning piece of drama with Michelle Keegan getting back her flyweight title by beating Jorgie Porter last month. While understandably she is celebrating her title and has time off. Who are in the running to challenge her? We look at possible contenders.
*Diana Korkunova (former BBU flyweight champion) BBU record: 30-7 (30KOs)*
Diana is a former BBU flyweight champion, she has history with Michelle. Back in 2019 she knocked out Michelle to retain her title. Form wise in the BBU she has won her last four bouts and looks to be back to where she was last time she held the belt. Would Michelle want to even the score with Diana?
*Ivana Baquero (former BBU flyweight champion) BBU record: 26-6 (25KOs)*
Like Diana she is a former champion. Unlike Diana she has never faced off with Michelle in the ring. She has won her last two bouts. The rebuild for the former champion seems to be working but is it too soon to thrust her back into the title picture?
*Elisha Herbert (Current ACB bantamweight champion) BBU record: 7-2 (7KOs)*
Now Elisha is a bantamweight champion in the ACB but she has fought at flyweight several times. She also won an Aussie twins knockout tournament last year. So arguably it would be a super fight to see Michelle and Elisha share a ring together.
*Mimi Keene BBU record: 7-2 (7KOs)*
The one with the least experience but someone who should be getting talked about more is Mimi. Her recent results have seen her smack down Maisie Williams, Lily-Rose Depp and Heidi Range. She looks in great shape and is moving quickly up the rankings. Maybe too soon for a title shot but we'll see what Mimi can do this year to prove her time is now.
I'll take on any of these girls who want a shot at me in the June PPV
