Part 4: An interview with Kate AbdoTom: so we don't often get to speak to presenters of the BBU TV network who actually box. Someone with knowledge inside and outside the ring to share with us. We are blessed to have Kate Abdo on today's show.
(Kate sits in the guest chair wearing a black dress with white heels as she waves to the cameras with a beaming smile)Kate: my pleasure to be here. I will be doing a piece later on the BBU TV network so thankfully you've woke me up before I slept in. *Winking with a chuckle as Tom laughs*
Tom: we always start when we get an active person on our show with either a picture or a video from their training if possible. Well you certainly aren't shy on posting your sessions.
Kate: yep there's my man putting me through my paces. I have been working hard on coming back stronger then in my debut fight. Hoping to prove that age is just a number.
Tom: just for those new to the BBU. Kate defeated Kate Lawler on a card we helped make. My god I feel old saying this but back in 2016! Christ does time fly when you are having fun. What memories do you have of the event and that fight?
Kate: I remember how aggressive Lawler was haha. I came in expecting it to be friendly but Kate was telling me what she was going to do with me. Glad I was able to withstand her and knock her out.
Not that I hold ill will to her mind you. Hell I'd think we'd be friends but she has told me before she'd love another crack at me someday. I respect that she has that fire inside her but damn girl! Did I not show you eight years ago that I am better then you and that was with some training.
Tom: of course there are stories that you'll be doing some boxing for Misfits. Any news you can share on that?
Kate: nothing yet as talks are ongoing. I do find it funny the fights people are wanting me in. For example I had a guy ask me to fight Katie Price. Someone called Astrid Wett who I know fights in Misfits called me out. Seems I am on people's minds.
At the end of the day Tom you know me through us being at press events for fights and such. You know that I'd take these heels off right now if some bytch came on this stage, I'd put on the gloves and I'd give them a fight. I have never been afraid of anyone or any challenge in my life.
Tom: yes I do know that. On that note we do have some BBU news. Hopefully we can say this but you have a bout all signed up and ready to happen next week. In fact in just two days.
Kate: I'll say it. So I am friends with Anna Woolhouse, who as you know does the presenting for Sky Sports Boxing, while I do Dazn. Me and her have kinda circled around the issue of which of us is better when with the gloves on as I've seen her spar and she has me. We haven't touched up each other in a ring and finally she accepted the challenge to finally settle it woman to woman.
I am not going into this contest too worried but I'll admit Anna is fit. She just never has taken boxing serious and I wanna show her why I am simply better then her.
Tom: fighting talk there! Sure people will tune in for that. I have to ask recently Emma Paton and Laura Woods both made their debuts against each other. You know both well, how do you think they did?
Kate: I know both train hard before they even laced up the gloves so it was never really a question if they'd run out of gas in the ring. Technically for first time fighting for real they did good. I can't criticise either overly much but they'll learn to adapt as time goes on. Respect to both for even trying the sport.
Tom: that's all we have time for, thank you for taking the time for this, we'll wish you luck though you'll not need it right against Anna?
Kate: haha no, I think I'll be fine but just incase then thank you. Also thank you for giving me the time to speak here.
Tom: thank you to everyone who took the time to read these posts. We will be back next Sunday morning hopefully with the next edition of the Real View!
