Girls Friday Gym
(Harry stands in the ring as the stable members stand around the ring with several journalists with notable BBU TV personality Denise Van Outen and the Real Views Tom Hilton in attendance)
Harry: this is not an easy thing to say, we have made several cuts as we start to plan for next year and hopefully our continued success in the BBU and it's American counterpart the FCBA.
But I can announce the termination of employment of Emily Atack, Laci Kay Somers and Catherine Tyldesley from our stable.
The main reason we have cut specifically these girls is we feel we cannot get them the fights they deserve and sadly for the most part these are the ones who don't look like they will make the step up to elite level as we'd like.
Denise: why have you gotten rid of Catherine Tyldesley?
Harry: I wasn't going to take questions but I guess it should be clear, we like her as we do all the girls, but at 34 and with girls being so much bigger then her in the division, we felt that she couldn't lead our welterweight corps as we hoped.
That isn't to say Catherine couldn't do the job for another stable, but with Michelle Ryan doing so well in America and Hilary (Rhoda) winning the FCBA title not long ago, Catherine just wasn't the number one around here as she once was.
BBU gossip page reporter: it's well known in circles you were never keen on Emily Atack.
Harry: to be clear; that is complete tosh, Emily got fights from us, hell her two fights vs Kelly Hall were great fights and at only 26, she fit our youth first policy we like to have.
But did she make the grade we wanted? she did a great job mostly of leading our flyweights in training, but of course her and Maria (Ozawa) have had let's say bad moments over the years which to be frank, did play a part in her being cut.
Her results under our management also were not to standard with her stablemates meaning she had to go sadly, I will miss her for the record and maybe one day she can come back in some capacity.
Tom Hilton: I think most agree with me when I say Laci was an odd signing to begin with, what made you pull the trigger on her career under your leadership?
Harry: to be precise Laci isn't totally gone, now to be clear she will still come to train with Taryn when she needs too.
The thing is as I guess you are alluding to, Laci is a fitness model and that pigeonholes you into really fighting athletes and other fitness models, so for us to keep her on our pay full time didn't make sense when we see the returns if we are lucky three times a year.
I hear before her fans get too worked up that Laci will be fighting at the Gaslight club when she is scheduled to, so you have certainly not seen the end of her especially at only mid twenties.
Hopefully that answers your questions, I always hate doing this but even after my years of running gyms, running a stable like this is still a major learning curve for me.
Someday I hope I can get to a stage where I can sit in that office over there and not think about cutting anyone, it is part of the job sadly, so all I can say from the bottom of my heart is thank you to the girls you've gone and to the girls surrounding the ring right now.
You are my family guys and while this is a dark cloud, we will work on winning titles to make all this pain worth it, because we are the Girls Friday stable and we lay down for no one!
Maybe a new start can bring success for those gone
