Emma Bunton vs Kylie Minogue
(Lioness Club vs The Bondi's Babes)
(7-13, 6 KO vs 0-1)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: This decision was delayed for a while but the time has finally come to bid farewell to Emma Bunton's active boxing career as a member of the Lioness Club. Spice Girls are heading for another revival tour but Emma - who turns 43 on January 2nd - just can't keep up with the modern BBU pace and has agreed to one last fight against fellow music industry icon Kylie Minogue tonight.
However BBU TV's Denise van Outen indicates Emma's BBU tenure won't exactly end tonight as a strong Marti's Maulers' entourage crowds her from both flanks during ring entrace which even makes Geri Halliwell look uncomfortable. The fellow Spice Girl delivers the pre-fight retirement talk to cherish Emma's seven year-old boxing career and ponders whether to reveal the additional chapter to this story before the punchfest showdown? Neah, there's still time to send Emma onto her merry way and Kara Tointon might wanna take over the MC duties hersef. For now, all eyes are on Emma & Kylie as they give each other a lenghty staredown which meets a rampant response from the Wembley audience.
Emma Bunton wears a yellow bikini top, brown hotpants & silver gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Kylie Minogue wears a golden crop top, teal hotpants & matching teal gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a curled ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
It's Emma's party tonight but Kylie wants to spoil it! She jumps at the fellow blonde and nails her with a quick hooking combo before a nasty overhand tears a small patch around the brow ridge and all hell breaks loose in the stands! Minogue catches the crowd favorite cold inside the opening twenty seconds and that's not what anyone expected - Denise van Outen in the booth included. Kylie mounts immediate jabbing pressure to wobble Baby Spice on her heels and drives her back to the ropes with the Brit struggling to respond in any kind of fashion. Kylie's been a vanilla puncher all her boxing life but she gets it done here as she gallops to Bunton's midsection while avoiding the desperate earmuff. That's a thumping statement from the Aussie cougar who rallies from both flanks to keep the Londoner pinned butt-in-ropes until the bell finally halts the one-woman show to a stunned silence from the Wembley crowd!
Round 2:
Kara Tointon joins Mel B. in Emma's corner and following a heated dispute during the break, Emma comes out flying and neutralized Minogue in mid-range via steady jabbing route. Kylie gives away too much in reach and strict punching resistance to risk an all-out blitz but she struggles to maintain her agile footwork as Bunton finally looks downright upset over that horrible opening round. She misfires plenty but keeps the Aussie tourist honest on her toes and the bullying artistic value should sit well with the judges. Emma lacks that huge punch and can't force Kylie butt-in-ropes alas there's no way the Aussie veteran keeps this pace up on the long run. She survives this round with minimal damage - none to speak of to be frank - but Emma still loses her temple a little and calls her a "coward" before turning back to her corner.
Round 3:
Minogue can be unsettled by some verbal taunting but she tries to find that first round mojo again and actually beats the Londoner for pace during a hectic jabbing exchange in the first minute. Emma bounces off her high guard too often to reel her back and fails to connect with obvious single punches as Kylie ducks underneath them and punishes some tummy instead. She clips Bunton's chin with an accidental head-butt which forces a quick break but it allows Emma to jump in with more zip thereafter. Kylie's guard wilts under the head-hunting push early in the third minute before a wild swing on the temple bends her awkwardly to the side. Emma follows through with a belting hook on the navel and stuffs the tourist on her heels. Another quick cross hook finds the nose to drop Minogue into spasms and she escapes a late rush at the last second to close out the round in rather desperate retreat.
Round 4:
Emma follows through with her jabbing more efficiently during the opening minute while Kylie begins to feel the heat a little too frequently to avoid getting glued on her heels. She tries to slug the fellow blonde away but bounces off the guard before getting caught out by a swift belting hook on the liver area. She drops into more spasms while Bunton rides the Wembley support and whacks her up the middle to dissect the wilting guard. Kylie wobbles back towards the ropes and misfires with a desperate hooking swing which allows the younger singer to BLAST her on the jaw with a vicious hook instead. And that punch does the trick as Minogue wobbles forward with a loud whimper; she's unable to react for the double combo that slams her on the chin again AND SENDS HER CRASHING FACE-DOWN at Emma's feet! Booyah! The Wembey audience errupts in joy and allthough Kylie makes a recovery at eight, she looks genuinely rattled. She fails to lock the Baby Spice down and soaks a jabbing series that drops her guard for good before more vicious leather cuts her up around the brow ridge and renders her utterly defenceless on the ropes. The ref apparently doesn't want to save the embattled Aussie from more damage and enables Emma to run riot on her farewell night! She knocks Kylie's head back & forth until she closes her eyes and can't take further punishment anymore SLIDING DOWN ON HER KNEES and crashing face-down at Bunton's feet. And that is that when it comes to Emma Bunton's BBU career. She bid farewell with a KO4 finish!
AFTER: Too much joy in the Lioness corner even for the former Spice Girl to embrace at this stage. It's not the Main Event but Emma enjoys a spotlight treatment from the rampant audience before accepting a great deal of hugging and a ring of honor formed by Mel B., Geri Halliwell, Mel C. and even Victoria Beckham who arrived late for the PPV. Maulers' coach Kara Tointon joins the singers' party and announces the signing of the newly retired Emma into her stable's coaching staff which meets approval from her ex-bandmate-turned-fighter-turned-coach Mel B. "Guess that means we're officially in the feuding business? Let's hope these EastEnders gals can actually throw a punch or two!", Mel wishes the blonde all the best and Emma tries not to cry too much as she conducts her retirement speech. "I'm not going away! I'll still be here as North London is my home after all. I have some new friends over at Maulers and they can certainly use my experience to become a top BBU stable. I've had a ton of fun representing the Lionesses but now it's time for a new beginning. Let's hope I enjoy as much screen time as I did over the last few years. Wish me luck!"
Final result: Emma Bunton def. Kylie Minogue KO4.
